On Roger's picture, I am hoping to climb with him in the Valley as I have a theory that he can warp space-time and deposit us back to the Valley of the 60's.

If you think about it, he probably can...

lost conscious?

I guessed that too, but didn't know the proper spelling. Peaceful little place, on my one visit there.

Ed, you are right of course in your knowledge of the warping of time. But it is totally dependent on the mental state of the climber--are you in 'flow' or not?

It is tricky because the sticky rubber and cams disappear (and old logs reappear). Weird.

The worst part is when you cruising along in the here and now, have a senior moment and forget the time, and find yourself free soloing.

I always carry a few old slings, stoppers, and ovals for good luck. Sometimes I take my old Rollie.

Can you make it so we can climb yesterday's climbs in tomorrow's shoes?

Well Jaybro, I think there must be a way to figure that out, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that the opposite construction never worked.

Yeah, I know this isn't a climbing shot.. but I was up the coast last weekend cutting firewood- the sun was coming
up, the fog was going out and I took this snapshot. Pretty cool, I thought.
Allright back to you all and the climbing pics already in progress.

Bob's bringing out the FA pics, so here's an old one of me.

I had bolted a route in Joshua Tree on the South Astro Dome, called Crimping Lessons. It climbs the waterstreak left of Solid Gold at 11b. Shortly after I did the FA, the route got chopped, because "there's no way that route could have been bolted on lead - there's nothing to hook." So I figured the best thing was to go back and re-establish the route (on lead again), but this time get some pics of the process.

Most of those shots have been lost to life's abyss, but I still have this one:

Not really an FA shot, but there you have it...

FA of Virgin Sacrifice (5.11) at Valle Azteca in Baja California.

This was the first route we bolted there and (as far as I know) the first route on the cliff.
