Sigh.... Just because someone identifies as a gender other than that which was assigned at birth, it doesn't mean they don't have an interest in sexuality or intimacy.

I still can't figure out why it's even a problem for some that someone identifies as/wants to be addressed as whatever gender (or no gender) and why it deserves so many words (or any discussion, for that matter) - ??

It's worse than that. From the GOP platform for 2020:
Children will be taken from their mothers at birth, as one takes eggs from a hen. The sex instinct will be eradicated. Procreation will be an annual formality like the renewal of a ration card. We shall abolish the orgasm. Our neurologists are at work upon it now. There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards the Party. There will be no love, except the love of The Donald."

Ho man that was an epic wall of text on the last page!
Back around 2002 my wife and I were in a grocery store. This was at the time the Austin Powers movies had come out and one of his famous lines in the movies was after he'd out a man disguised as a woman and say "That's not a woman. That's a man baby!"
In the store we walk past a trans woman a couple times in the aisles. About 6'2", big Adams apple. So pretty obvious.
We get in line at the checkout. There's a People Magazine in the rack and on the cover is Mike Meyers (Austin Powers) with his 1st wife who appeared much bigger than he was. My wife points at the magazine, turns to me and says, "That's not a woman. That's a man baby!" She sees my shocked expression, turns around and realizes we are in line directly behind the trans woman who is checking out. Both the checker and the woman look at my wife in shock also. My wife goes beat red. But can't find any words to explain the situation. She felt awful. I felt bad that the woman's feelings were probably hurt, but it was still hilarious because it was totally unintentional.

HOLLYWOOD, CA—Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was pumped to attend a taping of The Price Is Right in Hollywood this week. The special guest introduced herself as a U.S. representative and rising star of the Democratic Party. Things got interesting when the game began and every time it was her turn to estimate the price of an item her answer was "free."
Items included a set of Italian leather handbags, an all expenses paid trip to the Bahamas, and a brand new 2019 BMW 330i, at all of which Ocasio-Cortez shouted, "FREE!"
When host Drew Carey asked if Ocasio-Cortez understood the game's rules, she told Carey not to cat-call her and then responded, "Don't hate me cause you ain't me."
She went on to guess that diamond earrings, a set of jet skis, and even a giant pile of cash were all free. Carey unveiled a package containing world-class healthcare and she said, "Definitely free." She was at one point puzzled by a stack of croissants but eventually guessed that they also were free.
Cortez was never able to advance to the game proper, and as the credits rolled she appeared visibly upset. A hot mic picked up comments she made in frustration, claiming that the game was rigged by capitalism and that "everybody knows giant piles of money are free, that's like basic economics 101".
