Anybody see my baseball trivia post about Yul Brynner a couple pages back? Here's another:
Had a friend over Sat night. A high school friend roomed with The Mick their first two years with the Yankees. He didn't last and sort of lost touch with Mickey eventually. The night Mickey died Fred had a dream where Mickey stood at the foot of his bed and said "Goodbye, Fred, I enjoyed rooming with you." The next day he found out Mickey was gone.

I played baseball into HS and have always said I'd like a crack at an MLB pitcher. That stopped with Chapman. Every pitch in the bottom of the 9th was at or over 100 MPH.
Happy the Cubs are moving on. Worried about either the Nats or the Dodgers. I'm particularly worried about the Dodgers because I think Utley has a chip on his shoulder and is finally playing for his hometown team after a great run in Philly.

So--who's gonna start for Da Boyz in Blue tomorrow night? I seriously doubt it'll beKershaw; he got rode pretty hard the last time out and not enough rest between starts. I foresee a Cubs-Nationals NLCS. The Cubbies should win that matchup handily. My crystal ball shows the WS between the Bluejays and the Cubs.

Now that the Giants are out I'll watch the rest of the playoffs hoping the Dodgers lose and hope someone else in the NL wins it all. It would be fun to watch the reactions if the Cubs win a World Series.

Seems like Hill was doing OK, I don't get yanking him having thrown only 49 pitches.
Blanton was lucky that wasn't a double.

Bummer that the Giants folded last night in bottom of the ninth. The last two games were really played well by both teams until that last inning.
At least now I can shamelessly root for the Cubbies.
You Go Cubs!!! 107 years since you won the World Series is long enough.
