I finally opened up the supertopo newsletter today as I sat for lunch and this was the first thing I saw. It was all I could do to compose myself and leave the table. My heart is heavy and I say that selfishly. I only had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and was blessed to work on a project with him for a few days. Super great guy to be around. I pray that peace and a re-knewed body find him in the after life. He will truly be missed. My condolences to those he has left behind.

Remember , it is spring break. There are lots of opportunities for lodging in yucca valley and 29 palms. Check it out early;.....it's busy this week. If you wish to camp, you can camp on the property here;..no reservations, fees, rangers, or regulations. See you soon for this important event.

I would run into Coz in Yosemite now and then, at Bachar's memorial and somehow developed a relationship via supertopo and Facebook. Even though we sometimes had opposing views, it didn't come between us as people and he was often inviting me to go on a climb or visit sometime.

Sadly that never happened even though I was assured to be destroyed climbing with him.

I'm wishing him the best on the greatest adventure of all. Condolences to everyone who will miss him.

Peace and Love

Thanks to the efforts of a number of people, we had a gathering for Coz that seemed right.
I'm guessing there were around 80 in attendance including Scott's mom, uncle, sister and niece and a host of climbers who made the effort to honour Scott's life and memory.
Greg put an awesome photo collection onto a big panel that we could look at at our leisure.
There was a catered lunch, plenty of cold beverages and some tasteful classical guitar music.
A longtime friend of Scott's (who's name is also Scott) who was also a pastor, shepherded us along in a somewhat formal ceremony that seemed very natural and respectful.
I thought he did a great job of sharing his own experiences with Scott as a segue into letting a few of us share our own thoughts and remembrances about Coz and then wrapped things up with a fitting prayer and committal of Coz to the great beyond.
A few of us then took some of Cozzy's ashes to a special place.
Then it was beers around a fire under starlit Josh sky.

A special thanks to Todd for graciously hosting the gathering.

I'm back home in Canada and am grateful I was able to share in a send off Cozzy would have been OK with.

I was very surprised to find that Scott had passed away. Many of us remember him as a young climber in Yosemite during the 70's. Although he had a house in Joshua Tree, l have not seen him there in the last five or six years. Scott was a great guy.

My favorite quote from this thread, from Perry:

"Jeez Chief, what kind of an Indian are you anyways?"

Totally vintage Cosgrove. Verbatim I'm sure.
I can even hear his throaty, slightly nasal cackle of the whole line.

Thanks again BLUEBLOCR for your very positive comments and pictures on this thread. Since Tony Yeary posted many nice pictures of the Memorial on FB, I'll start with some pictures for ST.
