Can't sleep thought I would look at the moon to see if anything is going on yet. Good visibility but no eclipse yet.

hey there say, ... wow, i got to see the eclipse now...
it is 5:53 am our time, though out here...was not yet half through, when i did...
may be more by now, :)
can't get a good pic, though, camera just can't do it...
had one, that might have, but had to through it out, :(
but i might try with my other camera, if the batteries are ready, but wow,
it will just be a nice simple one, :)
still, fun, to just SEE it... :)
thanks for the heads up... :)
edit:
say, thebravecowboy...
wow, that is a very very lovely shot! :)

The eclipse is in totality as I write this, hence not easily photographed...
Picture 1 is at ~ 30% obscured.
Picture 2 at about 75%.
Picture 3 at ~ 85% in the umbra.

Totality is fantastic! The "Blood Moon" hype is, as always, overstated...but it's a very cool time.
Best eclipse conditions I've had in 11 years!

hey there say, brokedownclimber...
say, great shots... i saw it at this phase, as well... so clear!
say, we were out at the same time, but different time frames, :))
here is mine, i got it just about ... hmmm... 15?? min. ago?
here is another color of it, less lit up:
oh wow, yes, and it did actually look reddish, by this time...
i was surprised...
:)
edit:
could not get any of the reddish moon, later,
did not show up in camera... was nearly light outside here, too...
it all was just black night color and street lights, though it was dawn...
new note:
say, mouse, i think?? this is the first original,
(oops, is not... it is the second or last pic, i took,
the heart shape of trees is not there, in the same position)
but:
oh my... does this help, a bit, for the setting of the night?
i mean, the ambiance of it all, :)
well, hee hee, it looked a lot more exciting, outside,
:))

Close up, as in look at her FB page, these two shots are really rendered as paintings.
I really mean it, neebee, these are neat and I LIKE.
Roger, great stuff.

hey there say, mouse...
yep and all i DID was adjust the light...
:O
but, that is how they show up...
i hit: auto brightness and that is what happened, otherwise,
the pic was all black and DARK DARK treens, an a hint of moon...
oh my... :O
the second one, i tried to make darker so it might look more real, as to the eye...
:))
sure wish they were clearer... :(
in the past, i have done this and they were pretty clear...
though, perhaps their was moisture in the air, sometimes that makes the light not filter right... i think??
say, just for fun--here is another of the first shots... :)
not sure if it is these two, or not??
will post them in the next post... below...
:)
edit:
ooops, will post it here, as, it did not lighten well,
like the other version,
wow, good thing i took three photos, :)
edit:
oh my, i reckon this what you call grainy, huh... :)
or, a night time sand storm, :)

I LOVE that first shot of yours, neebee, with the trees in the frame. It's hard to express, exactly, but it really feels like night, ifyaknowhatimean.

I went out to the tableland last night to take eclipse pics - it was cold and I didn't get much sleep, but I got some cool pics. It is really striking how much darker it gets. (from 1/150th at f8 and 100 iso to .5 sec at f5.6 and 3200 iso or so).

hey there say, looks easy from here, say, thanks... i had some others, from years back, and they were like this, but NOT grainy...
sure wish this was not grainy, but i LOVEd the affects, like mouse, said, it can look almost like a painting... in fact...
i painted a painting from one of my moon photos...
will see if i can find it on file...
and say, mr. T... what a great a sequence, of moon shots!
thanks for a share... :)

hey there say, wow, there you go, gnome ofthe daibase...
say, THAT is how my other moon shots came out... moon was a lot 'closer looking' at my other house and the trees that framed it allowed FAR more light...
that's it... that's how my many other ones, looks... then, if added
adjust light: then they would turn NEAT shades of green... though a few DID get grainy, but only a few...
thanks for fun share, thanks!

commercial flights from LA to San Jose fly over our house on a pretty predictable path. Sat out tonight when the moon was passing through that path and caught this.
