I took a year to read Focault's P. I finished it, and Quicksilver, on a long solitary Indian creek trip that culminated in 'the belly.'
I'm starting 'The Confusion' keep life perservers at the ready.
'Dreams of Brown Trousers' is the seacliff route I'm jonsing.

Speaking of reading, I just finished Beneath the Volcano, by Malcolm Lowry. Been on my shelf for 30 years. Not easy, in my opinion, althought I can see how it is in the canon.
Anyone else read it and want to comment?
Part of my 'reading for pain' program, as my friends put it.

I'm also Jonesing to read The Conquest of Tillie's Lookout. I loaned out my 69 Ascent several years ago, so there goes that. I guess I should also finally check out The Ascent of Rum Doodle.
I know, I know, how can a guy be so unversed in the important shee?

On leadership, one of my favorite lines:
"If you want to lead, then you've gotta be sure you have some place in mind that's worth goin' to".
-Paraphrasing Mickey Rourke to Matt Dillon in "Rumble Fish".

Please do not drive this thread any higher. I really do not want rajmit to come out of his unannounced (second) retirement. The number of posts on this thread could just push that button, and then we will have another trade center not really hit by commercial jets, or pentagon hit by broom test pilots thread.
Pull the life support.
Drama thread - part II.
Cat fight - part II.
Gary obsession with (whoever that catwoman actress) part II.
Dirtineye analysis of LEB's missing sense of humor part I.
Supertacan mama's jello wrestling with pictures part I, II, and III.

Jeepers,
I'd say you hit your mark on filling the tall order for a dental hygiene story Janet.
And Janet,
As I was outside happily trimming the sage dappled grass, I was thinking the same per Jenna's disposition toward Lois. Like I might have come in having decided to say something in support of Lois. Then I thought, nah, Lois will calmly, ploddingly, "LEB" Janet to the deck in a slow burn workmanlike manner...
Huh Lois.
(teen speak for ain't that so)
Trad Daddy,
This thread breaks or brakes for no one.
I do like some your writing Janet.

This thread is built for drift.
How natural!
As I begin to run out of pictures to post (not),
I tire of run 'a the mill climber speak.
So this is the shyte.
All your responses are ardently conventional, rational, and detailed Lois.
Keep on Keepin' on!

Woah there, we've had a bit of overnight mutation,
Janet, worth the wait, I couldn't do your job, enjoy the holiday and get back for the 666 party.
I'm with Tarbuster, I don't think we can split this, it's just bigger than all of us now.
I think we are present at the birth of a new word, it's
leb leb v.
1. To earnestly pick over and analyse a post on an internet forum
2. To post lengthy well thought out and argued discourses on a slightly tangential angle to an original post
3. To engage in wild flights of 'Casteneda' like mumbo jumbo regarding reincarnation and afterlife
n.
1. A lengthy, (possibly over)analysis of a situation
Tarbuster, you're never too far from a pub in the UK, I've got a problem with my legs - they can't walk past an open one!
Books.... Just finished The Wisdom of Crocodiles so am terminally confused
Lois, you know I had a picture of you in mind from your posts, it was pretty close too, you got one in yer Shaman's outfit....?

They are very nice flowers, but did you have to post them 4 times...., please delete three of them, and then go and sit on the 'naughty step' for 10 posts. There's a good little fella.

I have a MUCH grosser story about blood, mouths, and sex, but I ain't gonna tell that one, nosirreebobby.
LOL, Matt tried to nuke this thread with flowers, how sweet.
Janet, lots of climbers are afraid of heights, that's why they take a rope.

Now John,
That was definitely good for a laugh!
The women's day was perfect, thoughtfull and delicate to a T.
I think there may be some need to tune up the guy's day.
It's a little light on booze and blow jobs.
Clearly, we need to dedicate all those flowers as a sympathetic tribute to Locker and his feelings for his lost brother.
