HFCS and some others are completely missing the point. You all continue to spew purely subjective "things go better with science," and, "I like living longer," and, "love is wonderful," nonsense. I say nonsense from a scientific perspective. My own personal view is nothing like the scientific view. My personal perspective is filled with objective value and meaning, in part because I consider the scientific view to be barren, narrow, limited, and inadequate. All I was doing is pointing out just some of the implications of the scientific perspective and noting that science has NOTHING of OBJECTIVE value to offer.
You respond with the predicted appeals to subjective, emotive nonsense. So, go ahead and live in your comfy, self-deluded fantasy world, you who think that science has all the answers and is an entirely adequate explanation. To me it has always been hilarious to see the scientists in glass houses throwing stones at Christians that are supposedly self-deluded and believing a comforting lie. Scientists do the exact same thing by refusing to face the ACTUAL narrow, barren, meaninglessness of their own perspective, choosing instead to believe a different set of lies, living like anything matters when it really does not. We ALL live "as if" something matters; the difference is that Christians at least hold a world-view that is consistent with living in such faith.
If you think I'm making the scientific case sound too harsh and barren, then I'm happy to quote a host of scientists, including Nobel prize winners, at you. The scientific perspective is devoid of value and even freedom. The "climbing is an example of freedom" response was pitifully superficial and even ignorant of the issues.
So, revel in your comfy subjectivism, but don't throw stones at Christians who at least have an account of objective values and meaning. If you think it's a lie, fine, but then recognize that your own subjectivism is just as much of a lie.
Love, joy, and sloppy warm fuzzies to all!

I don't care if it rains or freezes long as I got my plastic Jesus riding on the dashboard of my car.
The Bible forbids eating shrimp! What kind of god doesn't like shrimp?
Why would anyone want to go the heaven especially if it's full of as#@&%es like you?

Mark 6:1-6, He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.” And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief.

(John 1:1,14) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

I am sustained by the Love of God
Lesson 50
Here is the answer to every problem that will confront you, today and tomorrow and throughout time. In this world, you believe you are sustained by everything but God. Your faith is placed in the most trivial and insane symbols; pills, money, "protective" clothing, influence, prestige, being liked, knowing the "right" people, and an endless list of forms of nothingness that you endow with magical powers.
All these things are your replacements for the Love of God. All these things are cherished to ensure a body identification. They are songs of praise to the ego. Do not put your faith in the worthless. It will not sustain you.
Only the Love of God will protect you in all circumstances. It will lift you out of every trial, and raise you high above all the perceived dangers of this world into a climate of perfect peace and safety. It will transport you into a state of mind that nothing can threaten, nothing can disturb, and where nothing can intrude upon the eternal calm of the Son of God.
Put not your faith in illusions. They will fail you. Put all your faith in the Love of God within you; eternal, changeless and forever unfailing. This is the answer to whatever confronts you today. Through the Love of God within you, you can resolve all seeming difficulties without effort and in sure confidence. Tell yourself this often today. It is a declaration of release from the belief in idols. It is your acknowledgment of the truth about yourself.
For ten minutes, twice today, morning and evening, let the idea for today sink deep into your consciousness. Repeat it, think about it, let related thoughts come to help you recognize its truth, and allow peace to flow over you like a blanket of protection and surety. Let no idle and foolish thoughts enter to disturb the holy mind of the Son of God. Such is the Kingdom of Heaven . Such is the resting place where your Father has placed you forever
