As the Bridwellfest approaches ....I will be posting some pictures of some of Jim's climbing stuff that will be for sale at the Bridwellfest;....which will help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 for Jim and his family.....I talked to the Band on Sat....and they are full speed ahead. I need an up-date on the sushi team....everything A-O-K, I hope.....I need to see if my t-shirts are in.....Jim is preparing a slide show......
Anyways;....plan to come on down and climb, commune with your fellow climbers, help out Jim and his family, and party like it's 1999.....

Todd, I am going to try to make it but need a few logistical details. I recently moved to Vegas and have yet to make a trip to JT. Is there a place to crash overnight after the Bridwellfest before driving home. Is your place dog friendly or is it best to find a place to leave the big guy? Sorry if this was detailed elsewhere but I didn't see it.

So far everything is A-OK on my end.

We'll need to talk about funding for the fish. john is getting it from LA and I might also do a San Diego order. We'll need to pay for that somehow.

I already have most of the rest of the supplies. Maybe we can work a gear for rice/veggies exchange?

The good news is I'm getting a new (to me) truck this week so I'm fairly confident I'll make it (my current truck i worry a bit about).

As you might recall for Roy's event ya'll didn't have enough tables. You guys tried to nab one of mine but that wasn't gonna happen :-).

Also.... we should do more than just sushi. BBQ fish, steaks, etc.

So I guess I'll need to line up some help. Am also thinking it might be nice to have a second popup tent?

Doug, what is a gear for rice/veggies exchange ? I'm bringing one big table @ 8'x 4'. and a couple smaller foldup tables. I can help some, but be specific in what you want me to do please :D Smiles, lynnie

I can bbq....if you need me to with the fish and steak. Another easy suggestion is mojo de ajo.....shrimp with garlic, hmmmmmmm. Some tortillas and refried beans and we may be transported to Bahia de Los Angeles. Cheers

Want me to see if I can round up some lemons, limes and avocados ?

Nature-

I'll front the fish from LA. In the next couple weeks we will need to commit. The LA fish site seems pretty limited right now, but based on the potential size of this order I think we could get some special requests.

But we need to get this started.

Edit: all that said it is a logistical deal to make sure everyone comes up relatively flush and has a good feed. Maybe all on the current list can post up what they can afford and their fish or meat tendencies?

Edit: Edit: Todd, I've got the fish covered (not the FISH). No worries here. Just need to figure out the cost distribution when all is said and done.

Cool, johntp;......all costs covered are insured for full payment returned on april 24th;...we will have $ coming in from sale of sushi and $ from Jim's gear sale.......you guys are awesome........I guess we could get a list of people who would like sushi.....an ahead of date secured order...and then I'm sure, just like last year, there will be a bunch of day-of sushi-eaters........seemed like a big hit last year;....and I'm sure it will be the same this year....maybe a separate thread for sushi-takers.....and price, and what that will offer you for dinner......this will be awesome........

If we can keep it all to this thread that might be good.

I'll put this out there to the crowd. Last year for Roy we broke even on the food. Part of the reason for that is because we put out a donation bin. Usually I ask for $30 for all you can eat. So the general guideline is if you want to eat sushi all day and night cough up $30. Or another way to think about it is "how much would this cost me at the sushi bar". And then toss in $100 to the donation bin :-).

Once we get close we'll start posting a long list of the fish items we'll have. Pun intended, the fish last year was off the hook.

The Grill is a great idea. Burgers, steaks, etc. Maybe do a couple huge salads. Bake some potato's.

figure we want to have food for everyone. I'd guess about 75% of the people attending will want sushi.

Another reason we broke even is that I did a lot more with fish than with rice. I'll change that up and do a big rice sushi salad with lots o' veggies, etc. The fish will flow so no problem there.

Went to the local restaurant tonight. Omakasa and some saki ran me around $60. For just me.

Whatever, it will all work out. Those that can front some $$ to Nature is all the better. I have faith that the Taco people will follow through.

I enjoy going to these places and sitting at the sushi bar and swapping times with the folks I end up sitting next to, who I've never met before.

Kinda like the Taco.

Naw... I don't need any money fronted. I've got a lot of supplies already. If lafisco can come up with what they did last year i'll just need to do a small order form San Diego.

I wonder though... If anyone can find a 50lb bag of sushi rice in LA or San Diego for a good price that'd be sweet. We don't need that much but I do :-)

Edit: hmmm... though in a way it could help to have people commit with their wallets. If for no other reason to start to put together a head count. I'd hate to not have enough or too much fish. Though certainly too much is better than not enough. I just don't want to go through the logistics of dealing with the list, getting the money, etc.
Order fish
roll sush
watch pile of money in the donation jar grow to the point there's money extra for Jim.

oh... and wash dishes Sunday morning ;-)
