Lessee.....
Drinking a Simi Sonoma Chardonnay, which is unfortunately no hell at all. Oh well, I tried. Neither buttery nor oaky. C'est dommage....
However, this time next week, I will be in California en route to Yosemite via Livermore, so the rest of you CUBICAL PUKES can just dream of how bitchin' I am.... and I will get some proper Livermore Chardonnay. Or maybe even something else....
Especially Ottawa Doug. OTTAWA DOUG IS A FULL_ON CUBICLE PUKE!!!!
Now, can the Peng-you-wins oust the Rangers once and for all?
I am using a lot of ellipses, eh? Whatever happened to Ricardo...
And Werner says I'm a bad-ass and won't fall!!!!

Pete, osage of the vine, how do I keep the wife from prematurely opening
our Justin Isosceles? She's like a kid at Christmas but I tell her the 2011's
need two more years.

Pul - LEEE - yuz tell me you didn't pay over fifty bucks for a freakin' Meritage!! What are you thinking??? Polluting a perfectly good Cab with Merlot?
Those damn Frogs, what are they thinking? Besides, any Bordeaux worth its salt needs about six varietals, especially my favourite - Petite Sirah [spelled with an "i" not a "y", eh?]
Paso Robles makes some fine wines. J. Lohr made me an Autumn Harvest Chardonnay that was WAAAAAAAY above my usual price point - like, by $22 - but I just couldn't resist and bought it. Best damn Chard I ever had.
And I refuse to drink Merlot, except the one I bought from Tobin James! Not only does he make an amazing Merlot with such rich chocolate notes you'd swear he dumped in some cocao, but he has a climbing wall outside his winery!
Anyway, as for your Isosceles, simply explain to your wife the Dr. Piton Pythagoreum Theorum:
"The angle of the dangle is inversely proportional to the heat of the meat times the square of the hair."
Properly explained, she will understand the importance of cellaring such a fine [ahem] bottle another couple of years.
Hey - wait a minute?! Isn't it 2014??

Dood, you been hanging on too many beaks! Isosceles is 88% Cab and only
12% Merlot! Dost thou think mine palate that of a Camp 4 dirtbag? Sure
and it is the finest red we have tasted in Paso, by far.

O'Really, Reilly?
One thinks thou dost protesteth too much.
There is only one way to be certain ... thou must bring some to the Centre of the Universe, the Holy Grail of wine tasting - or if knott, at least of King Cobras - the El Cap Bridge. [I can live with 12%]
I shall provide the Eisch Breathable stemware, or failing that, some really fine Mountain Equipment Co-op plastic stuff, eh?
Pittsburgh hath awakened from its thlumber. It'th hard to talk, muth-t be the Chardonnay.....
Edit: Penguins suck.
Another edit: Big time.

A big Costco wine night at the ranchette. Let ye who scoff be damned to higher prices and in many case lesser quality.
I can hardly wait to have Wayno educate me on Italian Wines at our City of Rocks Mature climbers fest in June!
Home this weekend in between trips!
Since I'm with "my-people" I might as well post the last trip report to S.-Central Utah here, rather than compete with the politard & religitard threads currently dominating ST.
A six-day adventure to visit our pals Jerry & Angie at their vacation house in S. Central Utah, with four days of hiking to scenic and significant Native American rock art sites.
Day one, Frita & Heidi at Pleasant Creek in Capitol Reef National Park. We found hundreds of ancient petroglyphs dating from 1,000 to 2,000 years old, and the photos are just a sample.
Day two: Calf Creek, with a great water-fall and some nice and large pictographs along the the 2.5 mile hike to the falls. Their style indicates they would be from 700 to 1300 years old.
And of course the falls, with our group enjoying the view.
Day 3. An longish off-asphalt road-trip to Horseshoe Canyon and a hike into the "Great Gallery". The internationally-renown images date from 3,000 to 6,000 years old and the tallest image is about 8' tall.
a detail of one of the many great pictograph groups there.
The long group of small red figures all have human features and is called a "Processional." The figures may have represented all those gathered at this site for a ceremony.
Fritz & Heidi near one end of the Great Gallery.
There are three other significant pictograph sites on the 3.5 mile walk down and in to the Great Gallery. Here's detail photos from one of the sites.
We camped on the canyon rim that night and celebrated Friday night, without posting while drunk.
I need another bottle of wine! More ancient art to follow!

After repeating the long dirt-road adventure out to pavement we enjoyed a few miles of pavement back to a lot more dirt roads.
The first site of day 4 was rather beat up, but still impressive, despite erosion and vandalism. The largest figures are about 5' tall.
After a long drive on dirt roads, we found the significant Sinbad site. Sinbad is about 4' tall and about 3,000 years old.
Near Sinbad. Note the Comets to right and the birds around the head of the right-hand figure, which is also about 4' tall.
Then it was more driving and a hike to the Rochester site. The main panel reminded me of the crowded fantasies that Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch created, but this art work is 1300 years old.

Wow! Great photos! Now we know why you weren't here last Friday night. One suggestion is that when you're taking pictures of pictographs [or speleothems] you can include something for scale, like a person or a hand. Then you know how big the stuff is. It's hard to tell the size of the drawings in your photos, but thanks for telling us, eh?
For instance, this is me down in Huautla, Mexico when I was caving a few weeks ago, in a top secret undisclosed location. These are real live dead guys and their pottery, with me for scale.
Check out the red ceramic pot - it has three "feet" on its base.
Now, you think YOU are having a bad day?! How about buddy, who evidently got an arrow through his skull? Or was it a spear? Either way, he is still smiling. It must be Friday night....
Not a bullet, though. These dudes predate the Conquistadores. Believed to be around 2000 years old. Knott sure if these relics have been dated yet.
"Dated"??
Ha. I would have dated the hottie who is top second from the right. Nice cranium! Yes, it's Friday night....
"Relics"??
