By way of researching just what is wrong with decision making in California, I have determined that the 805 Freeway was conceived in 1954 and implemented (completed (you say)) in 1976.
Do I know the way to San Jose? No, but my friend Diana does. Just gimme some piece of mind, uptemp version. Nice and short too.

Sister Lenna Louise (don't call her Loweezy) posted to my FaceBeak page like so...
And the canal mentioned at @2:00 is within abut a choked-down nine-iron away, so her freezer is well-stocked with trout. The gal fishing looks suspiciously like one of her daughters.
We have had a few July Fourths and so on at Twain-Hate Lake, which is private--another daughter's in-laws have a membership to it.
And then there is Pinecrest Lake, below Botch Ridge ski area, where, across the lake, we spent a miserable night "winter camping" with Troop 98, about which I have told earlier.
Who is Simon Wheeler? You may have noticed the name in the Calaveras Jumping Frog blip. Here is a good answer.

I am guessing on what I say, because I did not take the photos, obviously....I don't like it, but that's what I have to do in some instances.

Together with the quote above and the essay on long-term memory (you haven't forgotten it yet, if you've seen it, no one posting here is off that bad) by Fred Rochlin, I have another observation on memory.
the Rev climbed Washington Column once, via the old standard route, which'emever one of several which that ol' boy thinks it is. He claims it was in my company.
I maintain the opposite, or a radically different version, to whit: he may have climbed one of the easier ones of the Lunch Ledge variety (how many there are and their variants I haven't any clue now), but I never have climbed any but two of the Column's offerings, the East Face (with Andy Cox) and the South Face (with Cowboy Larry).

He seems to be belyin' said Holy Writ and he's adamant about the circumstances. I don't blame him, as it's as good a climbing story as you get, on average, for rock 'n' roll kids from Merced.
I believe, in light of Navigator Fred's words, that the Rev is experiencing the same mnemonic phenomenon as Fred when he felt his trans-Atlantic flight landed in Timbuktu. I quote:
"My memory, it’s accurate and false at the same time.
It’s complex and simple. It changes constantly, often
just to fit the circumstances. And yet, all this time
I know I’m telling the truth because I’m relying on
my memory."
Boy, this is weird. I've come to the possibility that it may have been another climber he knew well, one from Merced, possibly. And nothing is certain here, memory-wise, as we can casually observe from the route discussion between Clint Cummins and myself over Derringer/Maxine's Wall on the first page.
Simply because he and I were close as brothers, climbed together constantly during the seasons we were in Camp 4, and his memory tells him so, he believes differnt'n me. I can accept the fact our ageless memories have become less intact because of age, just as he's almost come to terms with his hearing loss, which seems to be hereditary with Lem, his dad, not hearing at all now.
Was it Throwpie who climbed the Column with the Rev?
Stay tuned. If it was indeed our Flaming Skater from Decatur, we'll find out shortly and I'll be glad to let him, or whoever this mystery man actually was, tell the story of that climb.
There is another tale which the Rev laid on me last weekend, concerning the Terrible Cross in South San Fran. (You doesn't have to call it Frickso.)
Back in the day, which would be one in the summer of year 1969 by my reckon, Larry Horton led the Concrete Calamity and the Total n00b, had to clean it. Not hard, you say. It's a snap on Jumars, you say. A n00b could unsnap crabs from the numerous bolts quite easily, you say.
The crux of the climb for our soon-to-be hardman came when he was tiring from the unaccustomed effort (FIRST TIME ON JUMARS, never used PRUSSIKS, even). Horton looks down from the anchors--I don't know if they were on the crossarm or the actual top--and sees that he has NOT TIED IN TO THE JUMARS!!!
Oh sh#t-Oh dear!
Then the SF police showed up in the vicinity and saw them, or they had been reported by some Do-Good Ding-Dong.

Meanwhile, the n00b is nearly panicking but holds it together somehow. He takes the crabs and uses what's there to tie in to the lower Jumar.
The coppers declare that this foolishness is over and they demand that the climbers return to earth toot de soot, or else. "OR ELSE WHAT?" the Rev shouts down. "I couldn't come down right now if I had to."
Such brazen contempt for the authorities did my bad-boy heart some good. Like, HE HAD TO COME DOWN AT THEIR COMMAND, HELL! Well, the guys did get down and took some sort of medicine, I suppose. I wasn't told what the ultimate outcome was of this contretemps.
As in the case of Navigator Fred, all's well that ends well, no matter the truth of the story, I suppose.

So anyway, there I was at Gabe's Tavern.
Out binge-drinking.
I know, I'm an alky with atrial fibrillation, ATF, or some such. And the medicos tell me not to drink any.
I'm only musician, just a mouse when it comes to denying myself fun experiences, or what I perceive as fun to be had.
I like rice and barley,
Fermented or not.
I felt sorta gnarly,
But now I am not.
I figgered one night out a month is reasonable and more following their advice than not. Besides, angst is the shits.
My angst meter is at zero as a result, though I lost the day. Thanks, T Hocking, for making me realize the psychic trauma of missing out on a day. The Ray-Milland Syndrome.
I wish this were all in black and white, it would ring more turly.
And the turth hurts.
But wear it I must.

I have not had so much fun since we were at Tom's Thumb as I had that night, whichever it was, Tues, Weds. That's understandable.
But the fact that I can't recall her name is inexcusable.I was partners with the gal on the left, while Andy was teamed with Angelina on the right. These two are old pals. I think my partner's name is Christina, though I won't swear to that.
We split the four games, then they two split, Angelina to split bananas at Stone Cold Creamery for a shift and the other lady to catch a ride home with her. Andy and I stayed and left soon after dark.
Gene, the old man, Gabe, has retired as of about two or three months ago and the place is in good hands.
We still watch Miss Kitty

Still the toughest of them all.

I haven't a clue.
