In addition to those stunning succulent pictures, Dr. F. came up with this impressive observation:

Repeal of Obama Care will cause $230 billion more in our deficit

House Republicans have dismissed the CBO report
like they dismissed the CBO report for the Tax cuts for the rich

They Don't care about reducing the deficit
another $800 billion deficit for the Tax Cuts

its all about Politics
Their agenda,

1) make the Country fail, so Obama will be a one term President

A likely goal, considering the amount and tune of their obstructionism.

2) increase the deficit so the Dems will have to cut social programs and education
The opening of this post is good evidence of just this.

3) Take over the media so only right wing Propaganda is available, so more Americans would stop fighting them
Well on the way. Yes, even NPR & HuffPo... Watch out Net.

4) ship more jobs to China, so Americans will have to work for lower wages,
Nuff said.

Oh no, wait. You forgot:

5) transfer all the wealth to the top 1%

Dr F - I think your cactus work deserves its own thread. I would love to see it with all these amazing photos and the information you post. It's all quite beautiful. I'd no idea such plants existed.

PS How far off the places we are are going are you located? We are going to be in Death Valley, Amboy Crater and the Redwoods come May. I could definitely make a detour if you are not too far out of the way? I would not mind buying a few.

Comrade F!

I can see the GOP bribes coming your way!

It must be a strange time for conservatives.

The objective things (the elections, the tax cut) says they have arisen.

But there must be this vague unease that they have been outmaneuvered, and that their various planned moved are all anticipated, and this great gaping chasm is starting to open before them, with no pro placed, no bottom seen, and they're all roped together.........

anybody who believes obamacare (or ANY new program created by congress) will reduce the deficit is living in a fantasy world...consider, the bill proposes 10 years of higher taxes to pay for only 6 years of costs; if you have to work 10 days to cover just 6 days of your spending, you're IN DEBT...the bill counts "revenue" from social security and savings from medicare TWICE; if you record in your checkbook double the amount that you actually deposited, you'll be bouncing checks all over town

this isn't rocket science, people; i'd say it's common sense but that, apparently, is an oxymoron

The CBO disagrees.

You know the CBO, right?

http://www.marketw#tch.com/story/deficits-to-rise-if-health-bill-repealed-cbo-2011-01-06?dist=afterbell

In a letter to House Speaker John Boehner Thursday, CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf said that Republican plans to enact a resolution known as “Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act” could cost federal coffers $230 billion from fiscal 2012 to 2021. Between now and 2019, the repeal would cost $145 billion, Elmendorf said.

But whatever. If your goal is to "F*#k Obama" then facts don't matter.

^^^^ exactly

Interesting that their new proposal to only allow new programs if an existing one of equal or greater value is cut excludes the healthcare reform. Hmmm

actually, dirtbag, it's the FIRST assessment of the PROPOSED repeal (i.e. not yet enacted); the links i provided were the latest and revised assessments of the LAW (i.e. already enacted)

of course, one might argue that we should ignore everything else a person has said/written and focus only on the most recent statement...sounds like cherry-picking to me

finally, if you read the entire statement, elmendorf admits they don't know; the problem is that the cbo MUST based their assessments on the legislation as it is written...as i pointed out before, the obamacare legislation counts the savings from medicare and "revenue" from social security TWICE...even if the cbo recognizes this double accounting, it has to ignore such inconvenient facts and use the legislation to assess the legislation...so your criticism of the proposed repeal is entirely dependent on the cbo's original assessment of the health care bill, which is entirely based on faulty accounting

but go ahead and ignore it

I agree, but I think we need to acknowledge that the CBO was doing what was required by law. The legislation was done in part to game the CBO analysis.

First, by law, the CBO may only do static tax analysis. In other words, they must pretend that any new taxes won't change peoples' behavior. Reality dictates otherwise.

Next, the medicare savings were in the Obamacare bill. The repeal of those savings were in a companion bill. Since they were different bills, the Medicare savings -- which is totally illusory and dishonest -- gets scored as a deficit reduction.

If that's not bad enough, the scoring also adds "cost savings" that are unidentified in the bill, and will have about as much effect as King Canute's command to the tide.

In essence, the bill was crafted to require the CBO to lie on the bill's behalf. The immorality of the Democrats calling the Republicans liars on the cost of this legislation -- and the MSM's failure to report the truth -- tarnish both.

Kind of a sales pitch at the end of the longish video/slide-show, but some darn interesting observations on the [possible] looming US currency crisis:

Even if you don't buy into all that's presented, it is a good meal for thought. Watch 10 minutes, you'll likely watch the entire thing (~1 hr).

JE, how do you do it,

It's easy, Dr. F. I read the CBO analysis.
