Hunting down ice wine to bring to my Merrican friends this week. Got some Vidal by Strewn. Eyeballing the Diamond Cab Franc to pick up tomorrow. But gotta check Peller and Inniskillen too.
While Niagara's ice wines are world class, and some whites like Gewertztraminer are OK, for the most part the reds are appallingly bad. Virtually any eight buck red from Trader Joe's will kick the snot out of any forty or fifty dollar bottle here.

dinner date went dark some time around wednesday (hope she's not in trouble, but she really only calls when she's stuck in the snow...)...the king crab was *yummy* though...
nate called them the bugs of the ocean. I said No - these are the *tastiest* bugs of the ocean ;-)

Pagenmonkeyboy! Sorry to read of your plight.
As some say:
Eat Crustaceans one night
Crabs may follow.
Carry on!
and drink to Friday night without Rsin.
Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Valentines went down with a wonderful 2005 Napa Chardonnay here at El Rancho de la Bashura Blanca. 31+ years of bliss with the same valentine.
Went so sleep well but was awakened at 5:00 AM to a nightmare that Locker found my facebook account and was posting there.
Back from Florida and ready to climb some sh#t. Trending towards a beach climb at Pt Dume this weekend.

hey only Thursday night but this is my first night a little buzzed in a long time. We went down the hill to a local "hookah bar" and had some good baba ganoosh (sp?) and excellent falafel, me with a glass of French Pinot, he with a local Pale Ale. The wine was fine but the beer was much better. The evening is warm, I was wearing sandals and was not cold - a small miracle.
Home now for a cup of herb tea, good night.

And how bout our curlers. Granite excites me, be it big wall overhanging, or be it curling down the ice.

A toast to you Frostbacks! A huge Winter Olympics for you!
With about 1/10 our population, you have beat us in head-on competition and have nearly as many 2014 Winter Olympic Medals.
Sluuuuuuup.
A little Cline Mourvede & some H3 Cab, and I can enjoy watching your folks kicking our ass.
Gneiss for us to get that Gold in Slalom tonight, but for the first time in 30 years no long-track skating medals for U.S.
Population figures
Canada 34.88 million
U.S.A 316.1 million

Norway is *waaaaaay* smaller than Canada, and they got even MORE medals. Of course, there is an unfair advantage, since all Norwegians are born with skis on their feet.
I am enjoying a rum punch made with Belizean rum picked up at Mr. King's gas station in beautiful downtown Dump, Belize.

Loooong freaking week, fifteen hours each day from when I leave until I return.
I got bitched at by the boss for being a perfectionist and not just getting things done, and then this happened;
I was twenty feet up on pump jacks, siding a house, when the ladder I was using as a work bench fell, narrowly missing my ground guy. I yelled out 'Heads Up!!!', but he's a big guy and doesn't move quickly. The falling ladder, and everything on it (8' stepladder, siding, etc) missed him by inches. I almost sh#t my pants in a nanosecond.
Nobody was hurt, but I'm nursing a rocks glass of Eagle Rare bourbon to relieve the stress.
Happy Friday, here's to a better next week.

Brandon! Glad nothing more serious happened with the falling ladder and sidding incident.
I'll drink the: "Here's to cheating death!" toast for you tonight!
Sluuurp!
I'm stuck in SLC tonight, with the S. Idaho blues again.
7:30 AM sales presentation tomorrow morning, 40 miles away.
(not all that bad since I'm staying with my best friend and his wife!)
Chianti at dinner, and Norton Malbec for desert.

Hah! I actually cracked a beer for the first time ever at 4:54 PM, and hoped I wouldn't get a a call for an emergency - end of the pay-period thing. I don't have to fob out today, I was still skeered.
