In the battle of the network dunces, Cruz just signed up Rick Perry.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/rick-perry-endorses-ted-cruz-president/story?id=36497065

PERRY: I will tell you, it is three agencies of government when I get there that are gone. Commerce, Education, and the -- What's the third one there? Let's see.
(LAUGHTER)
PAUL:
Five.

PERRY: Five. Okay. Commerce, Education, and the --

[UNKNOWN]: EPA?

PERRY: EPA. There you go.

Q: Seriously -- is EPA one you are talking about?

PERRY: No, sir, no, sir. We are talking about the -- agencies of government -- EPA needs to be rebuilt.

Q: You can't -- you can't name the third one?

PERRY: The third agency of government I would -- I would do away with Education, the --

Q: Commerce.

PERRY: Commerce and, let's see. I can't. The third one, I can't. Sorry. Oops.

are you calling Pyro and Cosmic gumbys?

Trump is just saying what they think, what's so bad about that?

Hitler also said a lot of things people thought, nothing went wrong then
why now?

And Hitler's poll numbers, they were HuGGGEEEEE
He was out polling everyone....

You can get a lot of mileage by calling everyone a loser and the current President weak
That's all some people want to hear.

You mean the Truth that Obama has done a great job

and it's better than any Republican President since Eisenhower?

Yes, to bad Trump lies about our state of the Union to get support
all the right wingers love to believe the Fox lies about the job our President is doing

They refuse to believe the truth,
it's like the truth hurts so bad, that they just deny it instead
and the lies sound like the truth

is that your problem rick?

"are you calling Pyro and Cosmic gumbys?".... tin foil to the max.

"Trump is just saying what they think, what's so bad about that?"... because its utter nonsense.

"Hitler also said a lot of things people thought"... very true, I hate the narrative that says that Hitler led the german people by the nose, with intimidation and propaganda, to eventually become Nazis. The fact is that Hitler was a product of that society and it moulded him just as much as he moulded it.

"And Hitler's poll numbers, they were HuGGGEEEEE"...not that huge in the last reasonably free elections (1932 I think). Unfortunately it seems that in most societies there is a pretty sizable minority (20-40%) that has the frame of mind that makes them very susceptible to that sort of BS.

Bottom line is that I have a hard time taking Trump at face value ... but I really can't even guess what he's up to.

Thanks or saying exactly what I've been thinking as this mess unfolds. Unfortunately it's starting to look like a real possibility that we may not be guessing for long...

Both trump and sanders are populists.

I am curious to who draws the bigger crowds. I think this would be a good barometer if the contests comes down to those two. I think sanders would be more attractive to the masses, but I don't know. There are a lot of under educated, and ill informed people in this country.

Reich Bishop at Victory Fete Says Hitler's Anti-Semitism Is Fight for Christianity

By FREDERICK T. BIRCHALL

Special Cable to THE NEW YORK TIMES

Berlin, Monday, Aug. 20 1931
Eighty-nine and nine-tenths per cent of the German voters endorsed in yesterday's plebiscite Chancellor Hitler's assumption of greater power than has ever been possessed by any other ruler in modern times. Nearly 10 per cent indicated their disapproval. The result was expected.

All natural populations of humans contain about 20-28% authoritarians
Almost all of them are right wingers.

Probably about 20 to 25 percent of the adult American population are right-wing authoritarians, so scared, so self-righteous, so ill-informed, and so dogmatic that nothing you can say or do will change their minds. They would march America into a dictatorship and probably feel that things had improved as a result. … And they are so submissive to their leaders that they will believe and do virtually anything they are told. They are not going to let up and they are not going away.
Bob Altemeyer

I am convinced that at least a third of the population is what Eric Hoffer calls "true believers." They are joiners and followers . . . people who want to give away their power. They look for answers, meaning, and enlightenment outside themselves. ....They are followers, not because of a desire for self-advancement, but because it can satisfy their passion for self-renunciation!" Hoffer also says that true believers "are eternally incomplete and eternally insecure"! ......The Moral Majority is made up of true believers. All cults are composed of true believers. You'll find them in politics, churches, businesses, and social cause groups. They are the fanatics in these organizations.

“The men the American people admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth.”
Henry Louis Mencken (1880-1956), American humorous journalist

“The masses have never thirsted after truth. Whoever can supply them with illusions is easily their master; whoever attempts to destroy their illusions is always their victim.”
Gustave Le Bon, “The Crowd”

“The statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception.”
Mark Twain, “The Mysterious Stranger” (1910)

"They must find it difficult...those who have taken authority as the truth, rather than truth as the authority."
Gerald Massey

Patriot: the person who can holler the loudest without knowing what he is hollering about.

Mark Twain

"The men the American people admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth."-
H. L. Mencken

"It is more than just gullibility that explains the phenomenon of the authoritarian follower. Can you imagine John Yoo, Alberto Gonzales, or David Petraeus going against the will of George W. Bush on any matter when he was in power? That would be highly unlikely because their positions of high power depended entirely on putting all their energy into anticipating the needs of and pleasing their “leader”. George Bush started out the same way. As governor of Texas, all his efforts went into pleasing his corporate cronies. In return, they rewarded him handsomely by ensuring his material wealth and serving as a power base for his climb to the presidency. Lobaczewski describes the process as one of sycophancy: "They initially perform subordinate functions in such a movement and execute the leaders’ orders, especially whenever something needs to be done which inspires revulsion in others. Their evident zealotry and cynicism gives rise to criticism on the part of the more reasonable members, but it also earns the respect of some its more extreme revolutionaries. They thus find protection among those people who earlier played a role in the movement’s ponerization, and repay the favor with compliments or by making things easier for them. Thus they climb up the organizational ladder, gain influence, and almost involuntarily bend the contents of the entire group to their own way of experiencing reality and to the goals derived from their deviant nature."

not sure quite what you're saying there Craig but...

NOVEMBER 6, 1932
NAZIS LOSE SUPPORT IN PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS
In the Reichstag (German parliament) elections of November 1932, the Nazis lose almost two million votes from the previous elections of July. They win only 33 percent of the vote. It seems clear that the Nazis will not gain a majority in democratic elections, and Adolf Hitler agrees to a coalition with conservatives. After months of negotiations, the president of Germany, Paul von Hindenburg, will appoint Hitler chancellor of Germany in a government seemingly dominated by conservatives on January 30, 1933.

There is no "Ready for Carly?" thread, so I'll put this here:

2 indicted for making fake Planned Parenthood baby-parts video

As I recall, Cruz and some of the other GOP reality-deniers also jumped up and down about the fake video, calling for the swift defunding of Planned Parenthood.

Greg Abbot, GOP Governor of Texas, initially called for the investigation into the video, seeking to gain ammunition for the destruction of Planned Parenthood. Clearly, his intent was to skewer Planned Parenthood for "selling baby parts", and not to obtain facts related to the video, or to go where those facts led.

When the Grand Jury finally showed the video to be a fake, and exposed the people responsible for making it (two Texas residents), Abbot refused to concede the existence of the evidence. Instead, he doubled-down on his original, baseless allegations, and said that Texas would continue to investigate Planned Parenthood for illegally selling fetal tissue.

This, I suppose, is what good, right-wing Texan conservatives mean when they talk about reducing government waste - Continue on with a demented witch hunt, at taxpayers' expense, even when the Gov's own investigators show there is no basis, at all, for the original allegations.

Sometimes, tenacity and single-mindedness of purpose is just frickin stoopid. Texas Republicans are just frickin stoopid.

EDIT: So far, the Grand Jury has not linked the makers of the fake video to the triple homicide at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic. Statements made by the shooter indicate that he was, least partially, incited to action by the fake video.

Planned Parenthood has sued the makers of the video. I hope the shooting victims' families do, too.

N-rig; verb

To create, repair or fix something in a less-than-ideal manner, as with an improvised, short-term solution; to incompetently, or hastily construct or repair something; to construct or repair something in the field, without adequate materials, tools or skills.

N-rig comes from the name "Enrique", because that's how Mexicans fix things 8->

I bet you thought it meant, "N-Word-Rig". Well, it doesn't.

I'm guessing Craig is smart enough to bang out a few comments here in under 3-4 minutes. That leaves a pretty big chunk of the day to do whatever. Like watch the next president engage in a town hall with fellow citizens.
