I am what most of you would call a gun guy... I have worked as a firearms trainer for everyone from civilian to tier 1 military. I just do not understand why the pro gun people are not for more stringent background checks and training at least commensurate with getting a driver's license. Some of the worst weapons handlers which is far more important than marksmanship, were cops.

because they irrationally fear that if background checks are expanded then it follows
that someday the guvmint will come to their house and take every one of their guns
we saw this right after the Sandy Hook massacre, when a test vote in the Senate to expand could not get enough votes, our politicians are scared to death of the NRA's media arm
