BTW - the best way to get to Mt. Woodson for all you Northerners who might someday make the trek is to go

I-5 to I-210 to I-15

then take Highland.

i went thru LA on the way down and came back I-15 which is a little longer but a lot better.

you can shortcut thru Corona via 57 but coming back , the N. bound connector is detouring cars onto Mission, which is a surface street.

Hmmm...I left a message on Nathan's voicemail but no response as of yet. I left him an email earlier this week as well without a response, probably busy is my guess. I'll let you know as soon as I hear something.

Tonight I experienced the "fallout" from the Woodson Gig. Met some local's at the Saturday night party here at the casa.

Monday one called and asked if I could meet them at Vertical Hold climbing gym (tonight) Thursday. But of course :D

I am so very jazzed !!! After at least a year I finally have someone to climb with at a gym. Yahoooo !!!

Just couldn't make gym climbing happen because believe it or not I'm just a little shy. So it's all good now.

Thanks again for all those that made the Woodson Shindig the great success it was......Gary, helpers, sponsors who donated, All who came to make it the great event it was......Peace

<I noticed Keith Brueckner's name mentioned earlier, and although I produced, (what I thought,) a superior guide to Woodson, he was and will always be a great friend. I in fact had the immense pleasure to be his guide in the Verdon Gorge, as well as many other areas in France in 1984...MP.
edit: Ace ice-climbing shot Paul!!!:)>

Thanks Mike. And I remember running into you out at Woodson just after you got back from the trip to Europe with Keith Brueckner - didn't you climb somewhere in Britain too?

I gotta get back to SD already! So many problems, so little muscle.

Gary, this is a fun thread. Please consider going through your thread and culling the non sequitur posts, especially the fictional guest list. I mean really. Christian Griffith?! Bob D'A? Donini? And Ron? Maybe I missed this but how did you put this list together? No, nevermind. Just kidding. You are an illusion dweller afterall. Semper Fi. Historic thread.

Mission Gorge on Friday. Glorious morning here and later at Santee. Off and BVB providing all beta. Where they got their start. The Ramp at the Gorge. Can't wait to return.

Green and lush before the summer scorch arrives. Boulders are off limits along the now protected San Diego River running through the Gorge.

The sundeck belay. Steve jonesing for crimps and Nora absorbing cell phone waves.

So very very swole. After mocking that 2-plate buckle job, package holder, he trusted his suspenders more and longed for free soloing.

Saturday fun begins. Off longing for Robbins' Crack. Helps to have ladybug hands on this one. What a fun day. The camera then got lost in the pack.

Nice photos Mimi,

Mission Gorge was the place I started out also. Your 2nd photo has the Thumb in it (the detached pinn) broke in my Forrest hammock on it for practice.

A little bit of history, Eric Beck wrote the first climbing guide to Mission Gorge. I ran into Eric a few weeks ago at the Happies and mentioned to him that I had a Mission Gorge Guide wrote by him, he seemed quite surprised.

The Gorge is stellar. The whole SD area is loaded with quality granite. Can't wait to go back.

Mimi,

Semper Fi? You talking to me? Looks around for a Marine in the house, doesn't see any...

Kauk never returns messages on his answering machine, so I'm told, and that I needed to catch him before 9am or after 6pm (per Dave Yerian)...that didn't work either. I must have left Ron five messages or more.

Spoke to D'Antonio via email and he confirmed that he would be there, "I'll be coming out for the get together..." Guess not.

Christian Griffith, spoke to him and he said he was pretty busy with the spring shipments with Verve', his company, but asked if Randy Leavitt was really going to be there. I told him that he would be. I even gave him Randy's number. The last email I got from Christian was on a pretty positive note as far as showing up...

"hi am really going to try and come!!it sounds great and while i still climb a ton i havent climbed a crack in years! (the last OW i did was at the woodson comp!) i let you know."

c griffith

...Obviously not.

Really thought Piggot would make a surprise showing. Nope.

Geeze, how long were you guys in town?! Thanks for inviting me as I was bouldering within eyesight of the Gorge over at Santee boulders about thrice this week! I see how you are! Or were those pic's pre-shindig?

I got back into climbing 3 yrs ago, still haven't been back to the Gorge! Fun stuff out there, totally different rock than areas just around the corner.
Bvb was there on Friday, Gary, that's your time stamp. But of course they invited everyone in the County, didn't you get yours?!
