There's a sweet story about the Sergeant Pepper's album cover. The legal department told the Beatles that they had to get permission from all those who were living, to print their picture. (Most were famous, or infamous.)
So they wrote a nice letter to all the people in the collage, asking if it was ok. One of the people was Mae West - I think she's the blonde on the right. She wrote back, saying "What would I be doing in a lonely heart's club?"
But in the end she agreed.
