I predicted that the media would go easy on him until he got the nomination, then bury him. The Republican leadership, already under assault from the likes of the Heritage Foundation, was too weakened to combat him effectively, particularly without media scrutiny of Trump's insanity.

They had 13 months to call him out on his bullsh#t, insults, name calling, Muslim ban and so on.

They own him, plain and simple.

By the way, I started life as a Registered Democrat. Met and shook hands with the last decent one as president: JFK. I continued and voted for LBJ, all the way through Jimmy Carter. I then "grew up' after the walking, living, and breathing disaster of his presidency through the Iran hostage episode. Voted twice for Ronaldus magnus, but couldn't bring myself to pull the lever for George Herbert Walker BUSH. Another dickhead. Clinton I? Nope. Clinton I for second term? Nope. GWB? Nope; not either time. McCain? Nope; Obama: nope. All the recent choices have been repugnant to me. For this election, it boils down to either Johnson or Trump, but I'm suspicious of the Bush support behind Johnson. I thought Bernie was by far the better Demo candidate, at least as far as honesty and integrity are concerned.

Johnson had no problem taking federal money while governor of New Mexico.

He also would have no problem sending seniors into poverty.

Also wants to raise the retirement age to 70-72. WTF?

Bob, the leadership doesn't own him. Just look at the icy relationship between Ryan - a true conservative - a Trump. But the party, sad to say, owns him. That so many Republican primary voters ignored the warnings of leadership and the few responsible conservative media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal shows the wisdom of the Democrats with their superdelegates and active efforts to discredit Sanders' candidacy.

Jefferson Davis, frustrated with the inability of the Confederate central government to force the Confederate States to act in concert, famously said that if the Confederacy lost the Civil War, its epitaph should read "Died of an idea," [i.e. the primacy of states' rights].

The Republican epitaph after this election should read, "Died from lack of an idea" [since anger is an emotion, not an idea].

Russ, you sly devil! Now you've sucked me into this thread, too.

Norton, is your point that the Trumpian disaster is as apparent as your car starting this morning?

Good one, but I think it was from "being completely tone deaf" to the wishes of a sizable majority of the party.

And App....I didn't take it "hook line and sinker".... I just looked at who was running and what they say they would work for.... And for me thats Trump, despite all of the medias reporting of his many flaws. None of the other Republicans would work for fixing the immigration problem or lead us internationally the way I think we should go.

Jeb!, Kasich, Cruz, Rubio or any of the forgettable and laughable characters who were running for it could not even "get it up" in a debate.... they all talk tough NOW, but its a day late and more that a few dollars short.

Remember the end of Ghostbusters I when Zool says, "Choose the form of the destructor!" and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man pops into Akroyd's head?

My wife and I joke that this election is a lot like that. You know that the current form of the Republican Party (nationally, at least), which checked out of governing long ago and became centered around catering to the angry kooks, would crack up sooner or later. And along comes trump, just as improbable and ridiculous as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, but just as destructive.

Republicans chose the form of their destructor.

But, you and many Trump supporters did fall for Trump's BS hook, line and sinker. You mention immigration--and that's a great example. We do not currently have a problem with illegal immigration from Mexico. In fact, over the last 8 years, more illegal Mexicans have left the US than have come here.

What is Trump's wall for? To keep them from leaving?

Just saw a strange report that may have been an assassination attempt on Donald:

A "dead FBI agent" was found and apprehended by the Secret Service in Trump Tower, New York. The suspect was carrying a suppressed Glock pistol, which the NYPD described as "far too sophisticated for their pay grades." When fingerprinted, the suspect was identified as Barry Lee Bush, a Newark, NJ FBI agent who has been deceased since 2007. That name abruptly disappeared from the list of agents killed in the line of duty within minutes. He had apparently been killed by an accidental firearm discharge during an attempted bank robbery in 2007.

WTF gives here. The Glock Pistol was "sterile,' devoid of any serial number or other identifying markings--a type of firearm supplied to clandestine government agencies.

Where was Paul Ryan 13 months ago? Paul Ryan is a coward.

I guess this raises the Question why Trump was harboring a "dead FBI agent" with an assasin's gun in his apartment building.

Who else is in that building?

( I mean besides Chuck bBazer's unruly cats , of course...

Apparently he was arrested for trespassing, possession of an illegal weapon and illegal silencer. Not "harboring" as lamely suggested above. The only folks capable of obtaining such "sterile" weapons usually have just 3 letters in their names.

It is no coincidence that elvis disappeared about the same time as trump began his rise. Likely donny has devised a brainlink to tap into the king's energy.

They were only a few dollars short because those of you with hook, line & sinkers down your gullet sent your money to Trump....

I've got family in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

So I think I'm all set when the Trumpster Fire takes over the White House.

Looking forward to better soccer, hotter chix, unbeatable Malbecs, and a beautiful comsmopolitan city.

If Trump makes it, I'll look forward to hotter chix in the WH & his cabinet, and will be sucking back a lot of Malbec, while I watch him nuke beautiful cosmopolitan cities around the world.

I'm not going anywhere in such an event, but I'll definitely be buying more gunz & ammo.
