They don't show the ads in California
We don't need them, we will vote for the Democrat no matter what ads they run, so they don't even bother wasting their money here

bluering posted Seems fine by my standards. As long as he's #2. With Trump as the exec, Pence will do just fine as a VP.
The VP has essentially no power. The whole purpose is to have a backup in case the Pres cannot serve. If your entire candidacy is based on the idea that the establishment is a bunch of corrupt jerks who gave all your jobs to china and want to let in immigrants to take the remaining work then I'm not sure a pro-free trade, pro-immigration reform establishment candidate really stays consistent with that message.
Of course, inconsistency is Trump's hallmark. What he's really selling is the reaffirmed dominance of white men in the halls of power and Pence sends that message clearly. Judging from bluering's response, it is well accepted.

Regarding 'the Wall', he HAS TO DO IT if he's elected? He wants it too, but he has framed his candidacy on that wall being built. If anybody stands in that way they will be counter to 'the will of the people' and the president elect.
F*#king brilliant.
Bluring
He has to build the Wall, he just has to do it.
and have Mexico pay for it.
there is nothing equivalent on the Democratic side that you can compare to.
especially not posting a debunked virtually true image of Trump with some words on it.
I prefer the status quo to anything Trump endorses

Having the president's ear is powerful. Constitutionally, the veep's only real power comes in breaking ties in the Senate and being second in line of succession.

Donald Trump and Mike Pence are playing unlikely roles in their pairing as presidential running mates
https://www.google.com/amp/www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-trump-pence-announcement-20160716-snap-story,amp.html#
As partnerships go, theirs is not exactly a bromance. In their first joint appearance, the two displayed none of the warmth often shown in vice presidential rollouts. Trump stole the stage in a rambling speech before introducing Pence almost as an afterthought. They did not link arms afterward. Instead, they awkwardly shook hands and skipped altogether the classic pose of arms stretched into the air, hands clasped in.
The two will not immediately hit the road together. Trump’s body language suggested that he was done with his running mate as soon as he introduced him.
Well, it's well known how much narcissists hate to share the stage with anyone...hopefully Pence doesn't personalize this too much....

Usually, the nominee uplifts and the veep attack-dogs.
Pence purportedly dislikes negative campaigning, while Trump thrives on it, so the roles may be reversed.
Anyway, let the Cleveland sh#t show begin. I hope there is no bloodshed.

I was stuck by the reports of the shooter being a marine, killing three policemen.
It seems that there has been a Repub narrative that says that citizens should arm themselves so as to be able to exercise their "second amendment solutions" when they feel the gov't is oppressing them.
This is the Cliven Bundy approach, and it appears to be taken seriously by those who have grievances against the gov't, using the police as the handiest manifestation of that gov't.

I don't get it
why would the Cleveland Police Department ask Governor Kasich to suspend the open carry gun law during the convention
when we all know that the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun

If it's a gun free zone, then you are risking your life to go there!
these gun free zones are complete killing fields were any crazy loon knows that they can go and shoot up the place with no worries.
A bad guy with a gun doesn't care about legality, he's just looking for gun free zones to freely express his second amendment rights!
I put up a sign in my neighborhood that reads, "Not a Gun Free Zone"
It helps me sleep at night.

Why are you guys scoffing at the power of totem fetish worship? Be respectful of other people's faith, ok? We have the first amendment for a reason.

Tyson Gross arrived at a Donald Trump rally on the Cleveland riverfront Monday with a plainly visible Glock pistol in a holster on his belt.
"I hope to God I don't have to use it," said the soft-spoken 31-year-old Navy financial analyst.
..."I don't want to be here, because it's dangerous," said Gross, who added that he fears a terrorist attack and violent clashes with anti-Trump protesters.
"I respect their right to protest," he said of Black Lives Matter demonstrators and others who oppose the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting who described the nation Sunday as "a divided crime scene" that "will only get worse."
"Come armed too," Gross said of the Black Lives Matters supporters. "It's fine. Just don't harm anybody."
The rally of bikers, tea party followers and other Trump supporters was organized by Roger Stone, a veteran GOP campaign consultant and Trump confidant.
"I can't wait to get out of here," said Gross, who lifted his "Hillary for Prison 2016" T-shirt to show how the heavy gun on the belt of his baggy shorts was weighing down his thin frame.
He said his wife urged him not to drive to Cleveland for the rally, but he insisted he needed to demonstrate — by displaying his loaded gun — that Trump's supporters could not be intimidated.
"When I was saying goodbye to my wife, I was getting a little teary-eyed," he said. "I didn't know what to expect."
God save the Republic.

The idea of ideologically opposed groups showing up armed "for safety" is a recipe for total disaster.
John posted Craig, the Senate minority filibusters. Right now, that's Democrats.
You can't break a tie when they won't ever bring a vote.
