Islam is a peaceful religion.

Peaceful like Christianity, Jody?

There's no such thing as non-violence!

It's impossible to enact and has never ever been done nor will it ever be done ever ......

In an ideal world, we could all live together peacefully! This is a recurring theme here on S-T, but it isn't an ideal world.
So...the Pacifists here, the anti gun crowd here, the open borders crowd here can all be lumped together in one word...

yes, it really is so easy to lump and vaguely categorize people isn't it?

makes one feel superior, as if they have it all figured out

but real life doesn't work anything like that

take the "anti gun crowd here" - you mean one or two people who posted that ALL
guns should banned in the US? pretty darn small "crowd", compared to the large
majority who favor doing something, like background checks, to give the FBI and police most weapons to track and possibly mitigate mass slaughter

take the "open borders crowd" - who is this person on ST who, not a crowd, who has posted that our borders should be open?

and who is this supertopo "pacifist" who favors what, living in peace, the horror?

Philo-

I don't disagree w/r to all of us being the victims of corporatism and vulture capitalists, all spawned by the mother of it all: the Federal Reserve Banking System (definitely not "Federal," and no, there aren't any "Reserves," and it's definitely a criminal enterprise that has stolen the wealth of all hard working Americans through devaluation of our once great currency).

But this thread was started to show our concern and support of the French victims of an Islamic terror attack. I merely point out something I had drummed into my once Liberal skull by U.S. Army Drill Sergeants. A dead terrorist is a GOOD terrorist. Period. Others can wave their beliefs regarding the evils of Christianity versus Islam, but Christ NEVER demanded conversion by the sword.

but Christ NEVER demanded conversion by the sword.

Probably want to rethink that one...

"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law"
Matthew 10:34 thru 35

Seems a bit whack if you ask me.

Brokedown. Re your mention:
But this thread was started to show our concern and support of the French victims of an Islamic terror attack.

This thread started as a news report on the Paris attacks & quickly turned into a number of rants about terrorists. I appreciate a very-few well-meaning folks did post condolences & support foe France on it, but they were far-outnumbered by the ranters.

However, I did start a Sympathies & Best Wishes to France thread for those that didn't wish to rant about terrorists. http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.php?topic_id=2716989&tn=0#msg2716989

Only the Muslim world can fix the pathologies within itself
Not true
The non-muslum world has the technology to rid the world of that pathology

Could it be that this time, after Paris, fewer folks here and elsewhere - including our leaders - are mouthing "this has nothing to do with Islam"?

Who here still thinks this has nothing to do with Islam?

Fritz-

I too mourn the loss of many innocent lives, but there must also be some form of retribution to discourage similar "me too" attempts as follow up actions. The perps in this case, flaunt their true colors, and the old soldier within me wants to respond in kind for these needless and cruel actions. The enemy has declared itself to be Militant Islam, and I consider President Hollande to be correct with his response: no mercy given. Now the countries of Western Europe must come to their collective senses and exclude the hordes of Islamists flooding their countries. Germany is on the verge of becoming unrecognizable, with Burka robed females everywhere, polluting the environs of Munich and other major cities. I was pushed out of an elevator by a horde of them at the Holiday Inn Central last year. Not physically, but simply by mob action pushing in ahead of me. I was disgusted by it.

Among my buddies that have pulled several tours in special forces and intel in Iraq and Afghanistan, I can't count one that has come back encouraged.

The factions are ruthless, the society is fractured and our partner forces are totally untrustworthy.

In regards to Syria- I've read numerous post here, how Obama is feckless and has no strategy, but I never hear of any reasonable option for a reliable partner force in Syria. The most reliable element of their society would be educated, secular dissidents- Are there dozens, hundreds, are they already dead or out of the country? Do we give arms to radicals opposed to Isis, only to have those weapons pointed at us some day?

Without overwhelming forces on the ground and a full value war, ending in regime change, there is no US strategy that will eliminate Isis. Even then; with all the elements in place to train partner forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, the results have been dismal.

The ultimate demise of Isis will be self-destruction by waging Jihad on too many fronts. In time (a long time), after numerous attacks in several countries and stacks of bodies, a coalition of pissed off Nations will launch a ground war and wipe them clean. The Russians will have to force Assad into exile for this to come together. And unfortunately, for every country with minority Muslim populations- a reckoning will occur.

Jody: How come Obama isn't focusing on American on American violence? ISIL has nothing on Americans when it comes to killing Americans. It's because Americans hate freedom. I'm pretty sure Obama is a secret American.

I think the French government themselves coordinated these attacks in a complicated conspiracy.

Another person died today. Hundreds are wounded and so more will likely die. And you want to troll. Mercy

A tragedy has occurred. A nation and the world mourns. Yet the usual suspects come out on The Taco to make it about themselves and spew their own brand of hate. No better than the terrorists themselves. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Locker-

If had been an isolated occurrence, I was willing to attribute it to rudeness. But Germans aren't that rude; French aren't that rude; Italians aren't that rude. And no--it isn't an excusable behavior by anyone.

It's a political act with grave implications. We should not then talk politics?
