This "Olympic Hockey" game looks way more like an all star game instead of some phoney Nationalistic game between two countries ......

I liked it better when the Russian hockey teams we beat were Soviet Red Army teams.

Regarding Hockey, I was really surprised to see them do a shootout in the Olympics. I would have thought they would play overtime periods until someone really won. Anyone know how long this has been the practice?

I believe the rule is a shoot out after four tied OT periods. I think that is what happened in this game.

It could still happen Jim. This is just qualifiers. Pretty good chance that Russia will still end up in the gold medal game.
Forgot to mention our hockey babes stomped the US hockey babes in prelims the other day as well.
Shoot outs have been that way in international hockey tournaments for as long as I can remember. I think in the medal rounds it is decided by sudden death tho.
I remember this from last Olympics when we beat USA in overtime. You guys remember that?
Edit- now I see Wards link.
