Visited John yesterday in the hospital. He was just coming off his last surgery and was very happy to be done with a long series of procedures. We talked for about an hour and his spirits are good, considering all he has been through. He is getting great care by some of the best in the business at a modern and wonderful hospital. He says the prognosis is that he will heal up completely with time.

He will be in the hospital for a while longer, as much as two weeks. His leg is elevated by a pulley system. I helped a nurse adjust the contraption holding up his leg and was able to make myself useful by tying a secure double bowline to hold the counterweights. John and I joked to the nurse about the importance of deferring to an expert like myself to make sure that nothing could possibly go wrong with the knot. :)

That subject alone should have been good for three threads and 1,000 posts.

So what happened to the Largo post indicating the funds raised will go towards his daughters travel expenses and "incidentals" ?

Don't forget to order "three cups of tea" ...

In response to the post above, John told me that Krista had delivered the money to him and he asked me to thank everyone who contributed.

It's a tent that pushes hot air around his leg and keeps the flap warm. Good circulation is crucial at this point so the flap takes. They test it every hour and listen for the pulse through the graft to check. I'm sure he'd rather it be a blow up doll though... BTW Ricks knot was great, but I couldn't stop thinking of horrible jokes either...

That guy still looks like a badass even in a hospital gown, with his leg in traction.

Hey John, would you like to spend a romantic Christmas at the Ahwahnee ?

The hospital is no place to spend Christmas.

Heal quickly and get home and relax.

I have been to several of these fund raisers or beg fests,
They arent very interesting until John Long shows up and grabs the mic

Humble is good but f#ck the pride

Get Better and give the go-ahead for "The Mutherf#ckin Fest of Ages"

We would all like to celebrate your well being and NOW seems like a good time to do it.

Best,Gregg

lying in a damn hospital bed that long makes anyone pale. he looks pretty good to me.

but, hey, the proper knot for that situation would have been a mule hitch, backed up with an overhand.

For anyone who has been as active as John, lying inert for so long can drive ya stir-crazy. Here's to keeping your lid locked down tight John.

Are there any books on your reading list that you don't have now that you would like to read now that you have the time? lol sorry for the tortured english:D
