Sometimes I wonder too.
Rox is smart in some ways, but he doesn't understand much about how the internet works. I laughed at his threat to get ahold of the ST logs to lookup IP addresses. I use TOR (www.torproject.org), so good luck with that Roki. Call the NSA maybe.
And btw. I'm not Pate. Have never met the dude but I think we'd have a lot in common in real life. Not sure why he goes off so much online, but I do agree that Rox is a PITA with his know it all-ness.

I can kind of get that, now that you write it. Hard to tell the tone and meaning of many comments though online.

Jefe is the man! He is right-on in his defense of Pate and yes, Jefe is an entirely different entity. I like his breakdown of the fundamental dysfunction surrounding this cyber witch hunt . . . we are going after imaginary villains, tilting at windmills.
The whole RJ thing really has reared it's ugly head; conjecturing some seriously questionable observations and perspectives, seemingly derived from personal insecurity and vendetta. Let us not get too carried away with imaginary accusations and the attention deprived posters that are inherent to the public forum.

Well, since.... to my chagrin, this thread is lived far beyond it's lifespan... Much like mine!!!
I should clarify my one and only post, not counting this one. Concerning the Gandhi thing, I just heard it on TV and thought it sounded cool, and would fit in and "Stir the pot", so to say, and it worked abit. Hey, at least I got a rise outta Werner :), really, I'm not sure I even believe that stuff. (Sorry radical :<) ). Hard to resist... and IF I still kept my flame thrower out, the remark made by Werner concerning the peace thing being one sided... well, that was a very easy mark to flame... However, that was in my younger, and more imprudent days. No flame wars here..... sorry.
So, I thought about it and came to the simple minded southern conclusion of what he (Gandhi) may have meant: We're all bound by two fates: birth, and death. Therefore, we're definitely all part of the same compost heap. Now, if you have a sh!Th0le, and all the turds are in there together, you can't have someone taking a poop, without disturbing all the other turds. So I guess, we do, in a sense, effect each other in an inevitable way.
I've also concluded: There is mean and good in all of us, though some won't admit it. The mountains and climbing seem to put the meanness behind us.
It's like the old story of a Cherokee teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight between two wolves.
"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, greed, regret, lies, self-pity, arrogance, guilt, resentment, inferiority, false pride, superiority and ego.
"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
"This same fight is going on inside you -- and inside every other person, too." The grandson thought for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?" The old Cherokee replied, "The one you feed."
Perhaps this fellow (Pate) is just feeding the evil wolf, and not getting into the mountains enough. To be fair, I would like to propose a request from Pate:
Sir, could you post some of you climbing adventures? After all, this is a climbing site, and I, for one, very much enjoy a great climbing story. So, I would beseech you, put away the rage, and teach us of your experience in the vertical world.....
