I do not meet with or go out with men alone but as a couple, it would be just fine. Perhaps you might bring your wife along, as well. We could all four of us go out to dinner.
Thanks for the offer...that would be wonderful. Bring the husband along, we can talk birds and medicine...my climbing buddy is the ER doctor here in Taos..he may come along.

Fattrad...FDR helped pull America out of a terrible depression that was created by Republican economic policies...GREED..His policies helped a lot of Americans pull themselves up and be successful business people....You long for a return to the days when only a few Americans can reap the harvest of a perverted Capitalistic system returning the masses us to a feudal state... I talked to an older New Zealander last night about his countries socialized health programs , that works , and New Zealands economy , which is doing okay...The only thing preventing a single payer system in America is an onslaught of corporate propaganda and bold face lies...In America we are all born equal and somehow the republicans are doing their best to create an unequal playing field that benefits the agenda of the privaledged...It will never work....happy new year...rj

I missed the Red-Faced in Madera as well in May 2010 Dr. F. Everyone said the place would be crawling with them too. Not so much. :/ Oh well, it was still an amazing trip!
Got the male Painted Bunting in STL of all places. He is not suppose to be there, but every year, a lone male shows and I got to see him. Beautiful!

Fattrad...WWIII ?...we already have it going in Iraq , Afghanistan, and wherever America chooses to continue it's imperialistic quest for world oil supplies...Our politicians are sneaky and refrained from giving them WW status and reinstating a draft ........When i post i base my opinions on what worked in the past for America...FDR's policies worked inspite of fox news rhetoric...So what is to say socialized medicine will not work...? You never know until you try..right..? rj

Re: Dr Kodos
I don't believe Dr Kodos was ever banned. I think he was warned during the "apocalyse now will face the music" thread...and chose to leave of his own accord. (I could be wrong)... He has come back to taunt under other identities...including a thread last summer--- a posthumous flaming of Curt Johnson.
However he bragged about being banned from five other forums.

OK Lois you're probably right. That explains why the threads flaming Dirtineye from an alias, last summer, were removed by ST administrators.

FROM POWERLINE TODAY -- DEAD ON.
In New York, sanitation workers have reported that their union ordered them to sabotage the city's blizzard cleanup efforts. If that claim is true, the union may be responsible for at least one death. Mayor Bloomberg has vowed to investigate.
It remains to be seen what will come of this particular controversy, but the broader point is coming into ever-clearer focus: it is time to ban public employee unions.
For the large majority of our history, public employee unions have been illegal. It is only since the 1960s and 1970s that they have been allowed. Currently, they are legal in roughly half the states. The United States has carried on a four-decade experiment in legalization, and the results are in: public employee unions are a cancer on our country.
Public employee unions flourish because government is, by its nature, a monopoly. Thus, there is no need for unionized government units to compete against non-unionized units. Moreover, public officials who negotiate with public employee unions generally lack the same incentives that private employers have to keep costs down. The result has been a fiscal disaster, with numerous states and municipalities now going over the waterfall of bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, public employee unions have become perhaps the dominant force in our political life. They extract dues from their members which go to fund the candidacies of politicians who will pay public employees even more money. The unions' ill-gotten clout has created a vicious cycle; at the same time that government units are going broke, public employees are now far better paid than their private sector counterparts, while enjoying better benefits and ridiculous job security.
Enough is enough. Legalization of public employee unions has been a disaster. It is time to end the experiment and make them illegal once again, at both the federal and state levels. I expect that this will become one of the great political issues of the next decade.
EXACTLY!

Taking government handouts is akin to taking a gondola to the top of a mountain. You seemingly get something for no effort and become conditioned
to expect handouts.
Many climbers suffer a Dr Jekyll / Mr Hyde transformation when they're off
the stone. First relishing self accomplishment in a difficult vertical environment and then down in the flat land wanting the government to be their f'ing nanny.
