However, Sarah also should not have used her son to take cheap political shots at the president.

That's right, palin is the one who decided to politicize the situation.
If she is going to blame a president, she should blame bush.

Just a guess Reilly, but maybe Insurance companies = "profiteering middlemen"

edit; Palin's son is a vet right? He fought in Iraq? PTSD?

why is she blaming anyone other than herself (and her husband)?

and people revere this waste of skin?

You guys have serious reading comprehension difficulties. What part of
"profiteering middlemen" implies anything pertaining to healthcare?

Healthcare is chock full of profiteering middlemen.

People began politicizing it the moment it hit the news. Her comments are just being used to retroactively justify it.

Healthcare is chock full of profiteering middlemen.

I worked in the medical device industry. I know people who have worked in that industry. And I know others who've worked in the pharmaceutical industry.

The general consensus is:

In dealing with people in the medical device and drug industries, you are lucky if you only have to deal with a profiteering middleman.

There is so much money to be made, those industries attract an astonishing number of unethical, single-minded, greedy sociopaths.

Look at that Shkreli guy in NYC, who jacked a medicine for pregnant women and HIV patients 5000 percent overnight.

Or the pharma companies that invent "maladies" (the latest - "Binge Eating Disorder") and then peddle tablets claimed to cure the disease. But, these "medicines" are rapidly and fraudulently pushed through the FDA approval process, and they wind up causing real medical issues, including death.

Other pharma companies illegally encourage doctors to prescribe drugs "off-label", for non-approved uses. The companies pay a percentage of their huge profits as a fine, and then continue breaking the law.

Olympus made duodenoscopes that were poorly designed, and hard to clean. When patients became cross-patient infected and died, Olympus tried to hide those cases from their other customers. When UCLA wanted replacement scopes for their defective ones, Olympus refused, saying UCLA had to pay for the new ones.

The medical companies are politically very powerful. They are among the best at manipulating the system, through donations, bribes and lobbying, to enable them to legally victimize the public. The corruption extends right up to the very highest level of the Federal Government.

The two biggest recipients of medical industry political payoffs in 2008? Obama first, and Hillary second.

Herr Trümp

A'cloistering from south to north,
All gathering to waddle forth,
They flock to him from west to east,
All rabid fans to say the least,

And read the measure of the man,
With heads sunk firmly in sand,
They gravitate in fervent bands,
With outstretched arms and clenching hands,

And signing on their fate is sealed,
By the deal this pompous ass has wheeled,
The angry mob to which he appeals,
Their hearts and minds now to him steeled,

With posture arrogant and snide,
His art to heckle and deride,
He's courting power like a bride,
All lack of pretense set aside,

So far and broad his net is cast,
Stifling all protest un-harrassed,
His billions hold his minions fast,
Blinding them to his checkered past,

He's brainwashed most and suckered in,
His 'art of the deal' the support he wins,
His wealth and power a polished gem,
To hypnotize and dazzle them,

So trumpets forth the Trump-full mind,
And delegates to them in kind,
To stir up Tea Bags left behind,
What dregs that Sara Palin finds,

To criticize and to ostracize,
All those unfaithful and so unwise,
To doubt false patriotic lies,
All this I shudder to surmise,

To say that once I did believe,
This land was made for you and me,
I know now freedom isn't free,
And love of money's n'er the key,

Mistake not others lack of dearth,
What's given some right from their birth,
While others die and bleed to earth,
How can we measure what that's worth?

A sacrifice honored with pride,
A treasure spread so spare and wide,
It leaves no unturned rock to hide,
So vote, it counts how we decide,

I give you this soliloquy,
To think beyond fear what could be,
Should we provide the recipe,
For Donald Trump and World War Three.

I think the Donald is over his head and wondering how the hell he got himself into this mess, headed for the Republican presidential nomination. He probably was hoping for a lot of press that would drive the worth of his brand sky high. He had a hint there might be a lot of crazy people like him out there, he briefly led the polls prior to the last election even after he'd gone full Birther.

And he's right about this...
Updated at 2:45 p.m.

During a Saturday rally in Iowa, Donald Trump said he wouldn't lose any support in the presidential race from voters even if he shot someone.

"I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?" Trump said, according to video from NBC News. "It's, like, incredible."

Trump made the comments while discussing how solid support for him is.

"I have the most loyal people," he said after citing his wide lead in the polls.

He said that support for his Republican rivals is "soft." Trump said that when people learned that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was born in Canada, he lost supporters.

I still think that he made somebody a bet: Hillary, Bill, someone.

He deserves to win that bet, in spades.

The Palin thing is nothing short of bizarre.

I don't see how it can hurt him (can anything?)

Bloomberg might be a different story, if he runs 3rd party, as it's reported he's considering.

While Sarah is only an endorsement, her involvement with McCain turned his lead
over Obama into an Obama landslide victory within 60 days as the public and press
vetted Palin, and America about puked.

But today Donald says he could pull out a gun and shoot somebody and not lose
and voters.

Ain't he sumthin?

Please join me in voting for Donald to be the Republican nominee in your state's Primary, only he is the correct choice to face Hillary......

Truly, astonishing. This, from someone ostensibly suitable to be President.

A self-image of invincibility is not just narcissistic, it is a primary mental defect among sociopaths, psychopaths, serial killers and mass murderers.

What's next?

"This bitch, who I used to screw - a great little piece of ass, by the way - this little bitch, who I used to screw - alot - she said she wanted more money. She said she wanted more money from me. She wanted my money. MY money. So, you know what I did? You wanna know what I did? Ya wanna know? I did THIS!"

While that is true, I don't think it captures the dynamics of the decision.

I think McCain (and team) looked around, and saw that they had absolutely NO CHANCE of beating Obama in a conventional way. So their choices were:

just sit there and take the loss on the chin

try something totally out of the box, with a very high risk/outcome ratio.

Obviously, they chose the latter, which if you think about it, is not surprising when you think of McCain.

Confronted with that choice, what would we want the leader of the country to do?

Trumps's done a masterful job of corralling the gumby wing of the Republican Party so far, but I have to say I'm a little bit worried about some of the things that he has been saying recently.

He's crowing about it all a bit too early, even slipping into self-parody.
As brain dead as many of his supporters are, if they catch wind that they're being played for fools (admittedly, they would probably have a hard time discerning such a thing) then he's toast.

In order to inflict maximum damage on the GOP, Trump has to either get the nomination, or force the establishment to blatantly disregard the will of their voters and find some way of dumping him at the convention....I'm happy with either outcome, but it needs to get that far.

The whackos that support Trump have no problem with Sarah Palin and vice versa. Fortunately there isn't enough of them to win a general election, and Trump will try to walk back on his disgusting remarks and fail miserably.

The GOP is doomed because enough of their base is so deluded that they drag them into an untenable position.

I was going to vote for McCain in 2008,until he brought Palin on board. I worried that McCain would die in office & we would be saddled with a right-wing wackadoo that talks with God, as our President. I switched to Obama, and have not regretted it.

October/Nov. of 2008 I spent 3 1/2 weeks in Nepal & did a 16 day trek with friends into remote Mustang. I brought a couple Palin masks, we had made at home, for our middle-of-nowhere Halloween party.
