yeah.
if you do a wiki on Poway, they have a "famous residents" list.
very impressive, half the san diego chargers live there,
plus tony gwynn and bruce bochey, and a whole gaggle of "people who you would not want to break into their homes even though they are filthy rich" category.
i mean the whole town has about three people, plus these guys>
Notable natives, current and former Poway residents
* LaDainian Tomlinson, current running back for the New York Jets
* Tony Gwynn, retired San Diego Padres star, manager of SDSU Aztecs baseball team
* Antonio Gates, current tight end for the San Diego Chargers.
* Tom DeLonge, Guitarist/singer of Blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves
* Chris Armes, Guitarist/singer of Agent 51
* Chris Lewis, Guitarist/singer of Pivit, Fenix TX, and Denver Harbor.

* Fletcher Bowron, mayor of Los Angeles, California
* Merrilee Boyack, published author
* Jeromy Burnitz, Major League Baseball outfielder

As a kid, and former little league pitcher myself, my father use to take the family out to Julian for the Apple Days Festival, and to Pinecrest for the winter, and he would point out Randy Jones' (Cy Young Award-winning pitcher and local businessman) house. The house was/is on the (south) side of Poway Rd. as you ascended out of Poway (north) and as the road makes it's first dogleg right (northeast), it is perched atop the peak of the hill on the right. Back in the day, in the 70's, it was pretty obvious for it was the only house up there. Today, many, more modern castles have appeared below it like serfs. Don't know if Randy still resides there though.

Interesting list Dr Sprock. Jesse Taylor comes in to train with my teacher from time to time, he's a cool dude. Funny that he's on that list though... lol..,

Gary - before Randy Jones built his house up on the hill, he lived across the street from me on Espola Rd. After he built his big house and moved up there, he had all kinds of financial troubles and ended up having to sell his Cy Young trophies and his house--to the best of my recollection. Hope he's doing better these days.
Dr. Sprock: if you do a wiki on Poway High School, there are some additional personalities on there, too. Some of 'em kind of surprised me. Of course, I would be at the top of that list, which is why I had to change my name to "mooser"...you know, just to protect my anonymity.

Hey Brad, good to know you're alive and well and still cranking - been a long time.
Those were great days in Tuolumne. I remember we both had old VW vans and would migrate around the campground all summer from site to site, keeping under the radar. Probably can't do that anymore.
Cheers,
Paul

Tom-Moose/Brother-o-Mine,
So, RJ's old house burned to the ground during the last round of fires. Now there's a much more modest house up there. I remember the old one looking like a fortress. I talked with Randy on the plane coming back from Phoenix a little while ago and told him we used to be somewhat neighbors. He's still kicking around and doing stuff for ESPN. Not too sure where he's living now, just somewhere in San Diego.

Salad: was that the yogurt place down near the intersection of Poway Rd. and Pomerado? If so, I used to go in there all the time.

Thats cool Mooser!! Fond memories of playing in the creek behind the store and catching crawfish. Once we were in a giant dumpster and found about 50 old playboys, it was better than gold!

BeeHay, there was a guy named Keith who did Baby Robbins quite smoothly, but he wasn't Brueckner. I asked him earlier, and would have been shocked, since he sort of looked like Brueckner did 30 years ago.

Lol...that Keith is only in his early / mid fifties, although sporting his full Santa get up and his hunched over stature gives him that old, elvish, gnome-like appearance. He's a friend of myself and Troy Wold out of Ramona, the same Troy and Marty that bolted Uncertainty back when. Too bad those bolts didn't remain, IMHO (contrast Rock The Boat or any other bolted route at Woodson!).
I wonder when Nathan Smith's gallery link is going to be posted? I'll give him a call. Brb...
