The flawless definitive answer to the original question, verifiable against every question any human can ask.....
Because the Republicans have stimuli-induced, power-damaged minds.
All the other answers are just rhetorical entertainment related to symptoms, which I often enjoy.
It is an aside to note that the description is identical for the Democrats and every leader, member or adherent of any power-based institutional perception, by design of the human mind, a trainable device that loses its neural access to the reasoning group of neurons upon adoption of the perception of "power" over the other guy, verifiable.
Amusingly, the DemocanRepublicrats and every other institutionally power-damaged mind railing against "the other guy", cannot understand the above, cannot understand what questions to ask to attempt to verify or refute it, and cannot understand the functional design of their own mind that anyone else can learn by simply asking the questions created by the commonalities of all the humans who accurately identify a contradiction without asking the questions that easily resolve it, as they so openly display for anyone to study.
Now where is a thread ragging the Democrats so I can rag those guys, and laugh.
Hey. If you haven't donated that old climbing museum item you have, for the Alaskan Alpine Club museum, do it before you recognize the contradiction of your financial status, and have to sell it to pay your internet connection bill.

From Instapundit:
THANK YOU, TEA PARTY! “Figure out how much more you would have paid in taxes had the ‘Bush tax cuts’ not been extended! Just go to this web site, plug in your income, and click! (You can also donate that much to a charity if you like. Me, I’m going to use it to try to send my kids to college, make some much needed home repairs, and the like!) Now try to imagine getting through the next year minus that amount! Maybe you owe those Tea Party fanatics a great big thank you!”

FROM INSTAPUNDIT:
THEY TOLD ME IF I VOTED FOR JOHN MCCAIN, WE’D SEE SOME KIND OF CREEPY TOTAL INFORMATION AWARENESS PROGRAM. And they were right! Govt ‘creating vast domestic snooping machine.’
The government is creating a vast domestic spying network to collect information about Americans in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks and subsequent terror plots, The Washington Post reported Monday.
The government is using for this purpose the FBI, local police, state homeland security offices and military criminal investigators, the daily added.
The system collects, stores and analyzes information about thousands of US citizens and residents, many of whom have not been accused of any wrongdoing, the report noted.
The government’s goal is to have every state and local law enforcement agency in the country feed information to Washington to buttress the work of the FBI, noted the paper, which has conducted its own investigation of the matter.
HOPE AND CHANGE!!!

DB, you want to participate in the political threads, it helps to laugh malevolently. Robustly just won't do it. Laughing maniacally may also be an option.

*votes to borrow 900 billion dollars to give millionaires tax cuts*
*blocks health care money for 9/11 rescuers*
*pats self on back for sensible pragmatism*

NBC’s ANDREA MITCHELL: The dumbest thing that the Republicans did was the DREAM Act. … that is going to turn out to be a real setback for Republicans because these are people who wanted to serve in the military and get educated and contribute to the society.
NEWARK, NJ MAYOR CORY BOOKER: To tell people who’ve been through high school, high school presidents going on to college some of the best brains who have no relation to their home country. This is crazy. It’s hurting America.
GOP STRATEGIST MARK MCKINNON: The Republican Party has got to recognize Hispanics are the huge growing demographic in this country. … We gotta send the right signal to Hispanics in this country in addition to the fact that it’s the right policy.
FOX NEWS’ JUAN WILLIAMS: The one thing that I regret…is the defeat of the DREAM Act for the immigrants and the immigrant kids. I just think, again, Republicans play politics with real lives, real people, real aspirations and they leave the immigration issue on the table when that’s the real business of the American people.
Any Republican interested in having his or her party remain a viable national party into the next several decades has to be cringing at this vote. While the as#@&%e caucus blocking this included five Democrats, the brunt of the political fallout will be born by Republicans, who voted -- on live national Latino TV -- to punish children for transgressions they didn't commit.hp

All those people on the OTHER side of the political spectrum are big, name calling meanies while people on MY side of the political spectrum all say thoughtful, intelligent things in earnest because they really care about what happens.
