Levin being the most delusional liar and scum bag
Levin did a very interesting and informative interview with Walter Williams yesterday. I was lucky enough to be stuck in traffic, and heard it. Here's a short review of William's new biography
I grew up in the "projects," 126th street and Amsterdam Ave in Manhattan, in the 1950's. What he says about the cleanliness and relative safety in these low income residential complexes is spot on. My single Mom and I were the only whites on the floor and we never felt threatened.

Then, from the 1930s to the 1980s, rates on the very rich went back up into the 70 to 90 percent range
Statements like this are very distorted.
In those days the IRS had very little power to check on peoples finacial transactions. No computers. No internet. No credit cards. In many cases no records at all. No one with any money actually paid anything close to those rates.
Today a working professional like a Doctor or lawyer has no place to hide and so the tax rates are the real rates.

More importantly, Kris, there were legal tax shelters for "passive activities," and long-term (i.e. more than one year) capital gains were taxed at much lower rates. The trade made in the '80's was to eliminate the tax shelters that relied on passive activities, in exchange for elimination of the confiscatory rates.
Those tax shelters are still gone. The push for confiscatory rates isn't.

Hey SUAP
where are you on?
Please give us your opinion on these issues
Dr. F -- here ya go.
Global Climate Change -- I believe that the Earth heats and cools on a fairly regular basis based on a number of factors, mainly the sun's ultraviolent output (see http://www.landscheidt.info/?q=node/189);. I believe that the effort to impose massive new controls over our economy, in the name of "climate change" (formerly known as global warming until the temps began to cool in direct contradiction to the "experts'" computer models)is a fraud, and designed to redistribute our wealth to chosen groups and/or favored countries (French President Jacques Chirac, who said in 2000 that Kyoto Protocol was the "first component of an authentic global governance." And Margot Wallstrom, the European Union's former Environment Commissioner, who said in 2001 that Kyoto is about "trying to create a level playing field for big businesses throughout the world.")
Abortion -- 1) Human life begins at conception. The complete unique individual DNA structure is complete at this stage, and to say that the form at this stage is not "human" involves ignoring what is plainly there. 2) Modern ultrasound machines let us see the developing person inside the womb, where fingers, a heart, toes, and a brain are visible within a short period of time after conception. Again, to call this human form "not human" and somehow worthy of indiscriminate death is highly objectionable and immoral. If you havent seen a child on an ultrasound machine say at 12 weeks -- you really shouldnt comment on abortion. 3) The pro-abortion movement began as an effort by progressives to implement eugenics against the unwanted members of society. Margaret Sanger, the revered-by-the-left founder of Planned Parenthood, was a racist and believed in eugenics (Sanger = "We do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro population"). 4) The modern abortion movement erupted coextensively with the "free love" and women's movements in the 1960s and 1970s, as an expression of the value that women could use abortion as birth control in order alleviate worry over the risk that having casual sex might lead to those unwanted pregnancies. 5) Roe v Wade, the seminal case that enshrined the "right to abortion" in our Constitutional jurisprudence, is a terrible decision, not based on the Constitition. As liberal Harvard law professor Lawrence Tribe once said, "One of the most curious things about Roe is that, behind its own verbal smokescreen, the substantive judgment on which it rests is nowhere to be found." Or as current sitting liberal Supreme Court justice Ginsberg said, "Roe v. Wade…ventured too far in the change it ordered and presented an incomplete justification for its action." 6) In California, the killing of an unborn child can be punished as murder (remember Scott Peterson? He was convicted for both Lacy's death and her child in utero -- why?) 7) Even longtime libs were against abortion. Jesse Jackson in 1977 = "Abortion is black genocide...What happens to the mind of a person and the moral fabric of a nation that accepts the aborting of the life of a baby without a pang of conscience?" Exactly. 8) Almost all religions in the history of the world hold that abortion is a highly immoral act.
Evolution -- we did not "evolve" from primordial slime. The record is too full of gaps. The chances that, for example, the incredibly complex structure that makes up my eyeball is a result of "evolution" is just too radically small for me to believe. Intelligent design is far more likely.
America being a Christian Nation -- America was clearly founded by Christians based upon Christian precepts. But America was also founded upon the belief that all who wished to worship here, regardless of their faith, could do so.
The Founding Fathers were Conservative -- the Founders were deeply distrustful of the basic imperfect nature of man, and especially when that nature held power. The fundamental struture of our Constitution is to constrain government, made up of men, from trampling on God-given freedoms and liberties. The term "conservative" is a relative one, depending upon what one is trying to "conserve". Today's "conservatives" are trying to conserve the original constitutional principles of limited government and the protection of freedom. The term "liberal" is actually a misnomer for those called "liberals" today since their primary objective (rightly or wrongly) is to enhance and enlarge the power of the state to their acheive their ideals. "Liberal" connotes freedom; today's liberals are not about freedom but using the power and leverage of government to achieve the reformation of man and society into something like a utopia. Suggestion -- read the Federalist Papers and the writings of John Adams.
The Earth is Flat, or hasn't been determined yet, since some people still question it -- The Earth is not flat.
Tax Cuts for the rich Create Jobs -- 1) First, one must determine where one stands on the proper role of government in our private lives. I believe government should be tolerated, not celebrated. Some jobs only government should do, others it definitely should not do. Since I believe that government is far far far too big and costly and intrusive today, I would therefore have a far less need (as far its costs) re taxes to fund it. 2) Secondly, the "progressive" tax code must be discussed. Taxing someone at a higher rate because they make more income, at least to me, is a highly immoral act. Punishing the more educated and productive of our society is wrong, and speaks volumes about the Marxist-fed ideas that liberals have today. A flat tax, where everyone is treated equally (except the very poor who would pay no tax) is the most fair and just system. 3) What are "the rich"? To liberals, and Obama, someone is rich if they make over 250k. But that would include most small business owners, many civil servants, etc. Again, I have a deep animosity to dividing up our country based upon income, and saying some are more worthy of punishment than others. 4) I have never gotten a job from a poor person, and when a wealthy person has more money, they will hire more people, or buy more stuff (thereby creating more jobs). 5) The government produces nothing -- it only takes wealth from the productive private sector and redistributes it. When politicians let me keep more of my OWN money, they are not doing something wrong -- they are doing what is right. I can choose how better to spend MY OWN GODDAM MONEY than they can. 6) When tax rates are reduced, especially on the "rich", tax revenues go up (see http://www.freedomworks.org/publications/tax-cut-revenue-rewards);. 7) And finally, JFK (who would be considered a conservative radical today) said this: "It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high and tax revenues are too low and the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now ... Cutting taxes now is not to incur a budget deficit, but to achieve the more prosperous, expanding economy which can bring a budget surplus." John F. Kennedy, Nov. 20, 1962, president's news conference.
The Republicans are Terrorists -- not sure what this means; lazy ad-hominen attack. BTW -- Havent seen any Republicans trying to release the Gitmo folks, or apologizing to the Muslim world lately -- oh wait, that was Obama. Oh -- and didnt Hamas come out and endorse Obama?
Hope this helps.

Confiscatory taxing is when we try to get back what Wall Street stole from us.

Workers at Top Wall Street Firms Give Millions More to Dems
Media echo liberal claim they represent Main Street not Wall Street, but Democratic candidates receive more cash from firms boosted by bailout.
By Jeff PoorFriday, October 31, 2008 7:51 AM EDT
Based on media coverage, conventional wisdom suggests Wall Street would favor Republican Party candidates when donating to campaigns. But that’s not the case.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics Web site OpenSecrets.org, out the top 25 political contributors for the 2008 election cycle, nine were Wall Street banking or investment firms, including the now defunct firm Lehman Brothers. Employees at eight of those nine firms gave more money to Democratic candidates – nearly $17 million to Democratic candidates versus only $11 million to their Republican counterparts. That’s 60 percent for Democrats to only 40 percent for Republicans.
Four of the top six overall donors are Wall Street financial firms participating in part of the recently passed $850 billion bailout – Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS), Citigroup (NYSE:C), JP Morgan Chase (NYSE:JPM) and Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS). Employees of those firms gave $10.4 million to Democrats and $6 million to Republicans or 63 percent Democrat. Employees of bank Goldman Sachs alone gave $3.6 million to Democrats and $1.3 million to Republicans, a nearly 3-to-1 ratio.
Still, the Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama criticized Republican President George W. Bush for putting Wall Street before Main Street with the blame for the crisis. “Now, this didn’t happen by accident. Our falling GDP is a direct result of eight years of the trickle down, Wall Street first/Main Street last policies that have driven our economy into a ditch,” Obama said at a speech in Sarasota, Fla., on Oct. 30.

OBAMA AND BP SITTIN IN A TREE ...
POLITICO: BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Donations come from a mix of employees and the company’s political action committees — $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals.

The biggest outrage re the border is that NEITHER PARTY WANTS TO CLOSE THE BORDER DOWN. Dems love illegals because illegals will rely on government handouts -- pushed by Dems, AND the more illegal kids in our public schools the more union teachers and the more union dues going to Dems.
The GOP just likes cheap labor, regardless of where it comes from.

Mexico is a narco-criminal-failed state that purposefully exports its poor, uneducated, and criminally-inclined into our country in order to alleviate societal upheaval in Mexico. We are the only civilized country that thinks that enforcing our own goddam border with this kind of state is somehow inhumane. Unfrigginbelievable.
