Ron: Great! Clive Bundy apparently has a black bodyguard that would "take a bullet for him" too. (A direct quote from the bodyguard).
It still doesn't change what he said on video, when he wondered if blacks would be better off as slaves.
Speaking of Kennedy & Johnson and the Vietnam war, I grew up in a Republican Household with a sense of humor. (Something that has apparently been lost in the Republicans of late).
One quote I remember from my mother was: Democrats start wars, but Republicans start depressions.
Aren't we lucky to be living in a time when a Republican President could start both a war and a depression?
Something to tell the grandkids about in the future!

Perhaps if Truman had entertained Minh's petition to the US in 1947 to help negotiate Viet Nam's independence from the French things might have turned out differently.
But in the end, the 57,000 Americans (oh, and over a million Vietnamese) who died in that war did not die in vain.
Never again would a Democratic president involve our country in a decade long defeat in the third world, driven by false premises and a complete misunderstanding of the region, nor employ such a war for political gain.

TGT- I know you love that quote but it's entirely unsourced and almost assuredly invented to discredit the man who pushed for the Civil Rights Act. If you do even the tiniest bit of research you'd find that LBJ worked really hard from a fairly young age for civil rights. When he assumed the presidency he also insisted that literally nothing would be signed on his desk until the Civil Rights Act was. But thanks for papering over your own bigotry with some "you know who the real racists are?" sideshow. Here's a protip: real not racists call out Bundy on his racism instead of trying to shift the focus to someone else.
