Kidding aside,
Largo does say it best.

As for people getting offended... Kinda interesting since it's an honest question that I believe every woman here can claim as their own. I am not special in this, I've heard the same story in many versions, etc, etc.

Now why does it have to become personal? Any reference to my looks is unfounded. Especially since there is nothing special about me. Plenty in comparison are much more, etc. etc. As for leading men on, many of us with the same story think we have been very clear and wonder deeply on why it's not heard. We wonder on what can we do better, etc.

Life is what it is. We try to learn, stumble around looking for answers and in the process get misunderstood. Guess there is no escaping...

It's cause us pigs were never listening in the first place. A man's hearing simply goes in the presence of goils. When you meet a guy who has "transcended" these urges, you've found yourself a saint. I think I might have met one once . . .

Most men do listen, but pigs will always be pigs.

Rokjox,
I just reread your post and must say that it's one of the greatest climbing stories I have ever read. I would not have been able to handle that. Heck, reading it makes me want to go hide under my bed.

P.S. I agree that some men are just pigs yet... Sometimes I think men and women just communicate differently. I think we somehow lost the decoding ring so we are not getting the messages. Even this thread gets twisted in the translation.

Hey Annie :)

Doug here. I can only give you a life experience. My friend Angie, my climbing buddy, and a very attractive lady, spent many months with me as a friend,..... try as I may, she held the line. To my dismay :)... anyhow. we climbed in Yos, TM and had a blast. Never been closer to a women... man I wish... but it wasn't in the cards. She's now married in OR. and I couldn't be happier for her... I love her very much and always will. I don't regret her keeping me in my place, and am proud to say she is one of the best friend's I've ever had.

All that being said, take what you will... all men are not like me, and all women are not like her.... but I suppose we're blessed to have met.

Much love,
Doug

Rokjox... that is an awesome story. I like the fat guy on the couch watching football imagery.

Anastasia: "yet... Sometimes I think men and women just communicate differently."

Heck, forget about men and women, more often than not individual to individual we communicate differently. But if you recognize this and just try to be aware of it, it's amazing how far you can go toward understanding others.

Demonizing and generalizing are easy to do. Compassion emerges when one realizes that the other is you. I don't profess to be any good at any of this.

Now after reading Largo's and others post I feel like I've been dishonest.
When I say it's just climbing I don't mean that I don't look up as the lASS is climbing up -- certainly thoughts cross my mind.
But there's a not so fine line between looking, casual flirting (which is normally done all the time in any settings), and stating outright "hey baby wanna f*#k".
The last statement I don't think works and would definitely put an end to a pleasant day of climbing (obviously if it did work it might turnout to be a pleasant day after all).
I like low-stress and climbing too much to disrupt a pleasant day outside.

You want to know how to pick up chicks when yur climbing.......ignore that bad dog self for a while and actually just climb. It's kind of fun and nothing gets a gals interest more than you just wanting to climb. I think psychologists called it deferred gratification.

I don't think I've ever met a woman looking for one.

'Glad to see we are not really getting anywhere with this after all.
Viva La Difference and all that good stuff.
I will say the Taser is an interesting element though...

"Dude, she's hot, I'd take two ...
maybe three hits off the Taser just for a chance at a piece of that sweet action!"

One of the most relevant threads ever here or the best troll, perhaps both (although maybe not an intentional troll).

Overheard at the crag:

Climbergirl- "Those guys (x,y,and z) just climb with me because they want to sleep with me."

Climberguy- "Well, guess what? So do the guys you ARE sleeping with."

I for one "know" it was a bit of both...
It really is an honest question. Yet it is also one that people rarely admit to because of all the ways it can be misunderstood.
I must also admit that I did not expect or imagined such a response...
