Talked to Curt last night. He says he's ready to get the hell out of the hospital, that sitting in your own feces loses its charm after the first few times, but his family is leaning on him to stay put for a few more days anyway. Sez as far as he's concerned the operation is a smashing success and that he's not in constant pain for the first time in months, it's even possible that by taking so much of the tumor out the chemo might work on what's left. Claims he gave away all his climbing gear, but didn't give me any, the bum. I told him we'd have him out on the rock in no time, and then he's going to be mad he gave it away. I can't imagine him without his gear. Seriously, the first few times we went climbing he'd carry 80 lbs of rack, everything from a full set of Big Bros down to the teeniest units you can imagine, and lots of doubles, to do one pitch Southern sandstone. Then he'd whine about how tired he was after the approach. he definitely puts the capital 'C' in character.

that does it. somebody local please return just some of Curt's gear to him so he can bust out of that place; rap out the window, or lead up to the roof.

Don't give everything back to him just yet. It's more fun that way.

I talked to Curt a couple of times yesterday and he is in excellent spirits. He was talking about guitars and was very anxious to play again. He may be home today.

According to Curt things are pretty good now. All the "stuff that hurt real bad is gone" and he's feeling better after this operation than he did last time. Though he still has a stomach tube for nourishment, he actually ate "2 bites" of his dad's smoked turkey. He chewed it, swallowed it, and "everything is going in the right direction".

What he seems to have now that has been missing for some time is hope for the future. Over the past few years his options dwindled until only this one remained. The reality was that he did not have high hopes for a successful outcome. He appears to be genuinely surprised at how well things are going right now. Christmas came early for Ol' Dirt. He's anxious to play his guitars, work in his garden, visit with some special friends and "may actually be able to do a little climbing". To sum it up, he said "I can have a life now". That appears to be the situation in a nutshell.

He tried to give me his gear once a few months back when he was feeling all sorry for himself. I told him that if he did I would make him beg to get it back. The one who has it now may have mercy on him. Also I need to find one of those backpack child carriers that will fit his scrawny arse so that when he gets to whining about not getting out to the rocks I can haul him in.

RRK

PS He said to expect a "kinder, gentler Dirt" but I'm not sure if they removed that much of his arse.

*LATEST UPDATE*

Our boy finally got to go home. He's too druggy and can't sit up long enough to read this thread, but I'm he'll be terrorizing the internet before you know it. I read him a few pages of well-wishes to tide him over.

PS: Neebee He says he did receive the gift you sent.

I got a yellow TCU with his mark on it - which reminds me that I don't have anything on my rack with your mark on it - a situation which must be rectified immediately since your mojo is very powerful. (I've got a green-over-brown that I can't identify - is that yours?)

No news since the last news - just a bump

I'm back.

Drugged to teh gills, but back homw, and finally got to teh PC, and even can type a ilttle.

thanks again to everyone for all teh kindness.

I have no schedule whatsoever, LOL, so after a little wake up period, I just finished reading the whole tread. It's very nice.

I think I actually learned more about what went on from JTM and RRK's updates than I got from living though it, LOL.

All these drain tubes are getting really old (and stinky), and you just would not believe the colors. But the smell is be best part. Really.

I'm really happy to not be taking steroids any more ( god those have a terrible effect on me) and I'm hoping to be pain free enough to cut down the narcotics quite a bit before long. GOD am I tired of drugs. Three years of narcotics is enough.

BUT I'm certainly NOT going to get tired of the nice folks on ST (even the repugnicants).

IF anyone gets return to sender stuff, from the hospital address fiasco, email me ( the address here is my real address) and we'll straighten it out.

I have to rest now. Will try to check back in thurdasay eve.

Thanks again everyone.
