It underlying true importance of ownership of guns has nothing to do with self protection from Indians or Meth freaks or hunting Bambi.

The "should not let others handle our safety" argument is a bunch of hot air. Every single day we entrust others with our safety - for clean water, for bridges that hold up when thousands of cars go over them, for escorting our children safely across the street (crossing guards), etc.
DMT's right with regard to gun manufacturers and gun sellers - it's not in their interest for gun sales to be curbed, they're earning billions per year in gun sales. It's like the West publicly condemning the various wars/conflicts in Africa but when you look at the small print you see that many of the militias are fighting with Western made weapons.
If the gun manufacturers took the bull by the horns Charlton Heston could keep his rifle AND someone like Cho would have never been able to get his hands on multiple semi-automatic pistols.
