The planet off to the right is Saturn.
I couldn't get a decent photo of Saturn. Using a pair of 25x100mm binoculars, it was obvious - by the rings - which planet I was seeing.

A new, outof-the-box Realistic brand heavy camcorder tripod was given to me by my buddy GeoLaF, who shared an adventure with me this summer at Bagby.
He said he scored it at a yard sale for two bucks and I could have it for free, as he'd seen the old rig Ed gave me that finally fell apart and it grieved him so to see me workin' so dang hard to get it set up. It was a comedy show, folks.
It's like a dream, but it's real-life.
No shimmies and no shakes in the breeze.
This is the theater tower four blocks away, at the same hour.
God is good and thanks be.

July is the month of the Full Buck Moon.
Bucks begin to grow new antlers at this time. This full moon was also known as the Thunder Moon, because thunderstorms are so frequent during this month.

I met up on Main St. tonight with a guy named Tim from out of town. He was doing the same as I was, shooting the full moon.
We got to talk a bit just before it began to rise. Tim showed me this app for his phone, Sun Surveyor.
