I am going to sit down with John after he gets out of the hospital and evaluate with him the need for future fundraising efforts.
If there is a need and John wants us to go ahead, we will then make plans for a coordinated and robust fundraiser. We will announce it on this thread and start a new one at that time.
To all who want to help John, please hold those thoughts until we evaluate the need and then announce a fundraising goal to fill that need.
Thanks for that update and clarification Ricky ... until then, heal up John ... and:

Survival and Russ are gonna tap out first.
Huh?
You mean like knock each other out?
Survival,
I thought that after the Bachar debacle we were gonna keep Don King out of it.
And you may not know that Crimpie is the only black belt to master the "flying toe jam".

I will say a prayer for a speedy recovery.
I will donate to any fund which helps the families devastated by the loss of a child.
If the medical bills get too much, how bout a book signing? Garage sale? Another short stories book?

Anyone who contributed and wishes a refund please e-mail me. For those of you wishing to donate I will make sure it gets to John and post proof that it has.

The fund is around $4300 tonight. Sometimes you just need to refresh the chipin widgit. Thanks again for all of your donations, I'm going to get a check to JL tomorrow.
Sorry about the widget it works on my end, but will be closed tonight. Thanks for the donations.
Well since you offered, I would indeed like to see the check for $4,422.00 - and confirmation that John received it.

To answer the question in your deleted post, I was holding off until it was clear that this whole thing was on the up and up...
So let's put this thing to rest and "post proof" that all the money raised (four thousand, four hundred and twenty two dollars) has been received by John Long.

Yes, John himself says the "chip in" fundraiser is legit.
But, having done these things a bunch of times through the years... takes alot of the worry out if you have the person, e.g. John Long, create a paypal account (if they don't already have one). With the funds going directly to their paypal account via their established email and banking information. There's options with paypal to have it either auto transfer into their banking account or even have it left in their paypal account for them to use the free paypal debit card to spend the money.
If the fundraiser is setup to go directly into the beneficiaries bank account, rather than someone else's account, it just makes everyone feel alot more comfortable about contributing. Enuf said. :)

I erased the post because I am trying to find out how JL wants to handle it.
Obviously you are such a concerned close friend of Johns give him a call I'm sure he can answer any questions you have.
Rudder, yes I agree and that was how I wanted to do it, it just didn't happen.

You offered to show the proof, so you should show it. Seems pretty straightforward...

I don't have a dog in this fight. Let it go and let's just keep the peace.
Edit: Aww screw it. I have no idea what all is going on in this thread; it has bounced around so many times and I have more crap going on in my life to care.

Coz: You're as bad as Russ,
She legit, the funds legit, Largo stated it was legit.
Ricky A said it was legit, I said it was legit.
Hey Coz, f*#k you and quit your leg humping. Your fixation with me is flattering, but creepy. Go hump Donini for a while more.
And yes, I'd like to see the check too... since Ms. Goodsitt offered. Transparency on something like this is King.

I know that I saw a post from Largo that said Rick Accomozzo(spelled wrong?) is handling his matters related to
this issue. You all may not know Krista, but you probably do know him.
Why not consider contacting him to get the information you desire?
It's unfortunate that this whole thing has gone down the way it has,
but it would seem to me that a word with Rick might help answer the questions you have.

Merry Christmas Coz!
Russ you asked me repeatedly to return all of the money. What do you even care
I care because I think it would be swell if the good people who donated were shown the proof (that you offered to show) that their money reached its final destination.
Roy: as of yesterdays report, the op was longer than anticipated, involved a muscle graft as well as skin, was pretty complicated, and went well.
