Big Mike has outed my closet troubadour with a You Tube first.
Thankfully I didn't butcher Church Street Blues.
Hahaha! Your playing was excellent Perry. Hope you don't mind me busting your internet video cherry! ;)
What a blast. It's been a crazy week for me, but better late than never right?
Here's what i got. You'll have to forgive me, i've been spending more time enjoying reality, and less recording it this summer..

'...Regarding Mr Carrigan and squamish, I do recall Dave Vernon telling me that one of the most impressive flashes he has ever seen was of Kim on-sight firing flight of the challenger in light rain during a brief cragging session while on a business trip on behalf of a climbing rope company he was the export manager for...'

I tried a search of Dave Vernon and it lead to this ... how bizzare ... one of Kim Carrigan's mates on the second ascent of Pacific Ocean Wall...

Eric did a very early repeat of the Shield (fifth?), sixth ascent of Mescalito and second of the PO. SOLID in the aiders!
For the record Eric and Daryl climbed about one hundred feet (not two pitches) of what is now known as Cruel Shoes during their ascent of Up From The Skies. Eric hooked his way off the finger and out of the arch to the first ledge. From there he did a run out stretch of 5.9 up and right to the first sickle.
The story I heard about Eric's end was that he was living in Arcadia, going to school, got sick with pancreatic cancer and when he knew his time was near, hiked off into the Trinity Alps and passed away by himself in his tent...'

We should keep the drive alive for year five at Psyche Ledge.
I mentioned the idea of recognizing the cultural/historical significance of Psyche Ledge with a bit of interpretive signage or maybe even small covered shelter to a senior BC Parks staffer.
He frowned and said he was thinking of developing that area for more visitor parking.
That would be different.
I think Luke (Kid Cormier) is officiating this year as I may be away.
Forge on!

I was thinking how much I missed not going last year and was planning on making the trip this time around but something has come up. Masha and I bought a house in Republic, WA and we are spending all our spare time in fixit mode. We need to get some things straightened out before our big move. We got a good deal but it is a fixer. Best wishes to all the Squamish crew!

Bump for 5th annual Psyche Ledge Rendezvous, Saturday Sept. 10.
Be there or be slagged and be careful near the edge if you're not tied in.

A reliable source advises that Mister Psyche himself, aka Fred Beckey, will grace us with his presence on Saturday night. At 93, he's still psyched to climb!
ps Fred needs a ride from Squamish to Seattle on Sunday. I understand that someone may be able to get him from Squamish to Vancouver, or the border, but maybe someone from Seattle area will be climbing at Squamish this weekend, and have room to take Fred back?

Doesn't look like we're going to be able to make it either this time.
Oh well, next year...

Important info:
Fred needs a ride from Squamish to Seattle on Sunday.
Can you vet that he has a passport?
edit:
Is that Mr. Psyche? Or Mr. Psych?

Looking forward to this Saturday's psyche ledge gathering.
I'll be getting set down there around 7 pm with Perry's little putt-putt for some lighting and speakers and a my portable propane fire place, recycling and garbage bins.

Yes, Fred has his passport etc. He's quite organized, plus is in good hands. So any help with a ride for him to Seattle on Sunday would be much appreciated.
