WOW. WOW. wow......
Mark, I probably would have been calling for the rope from two pitches down after that fall.
Yer a very tough dude. Glad you made it out of the combat zone in one piece.

Yikes, so glad you're OK Mark. While not ending the way you'd like making good decisions is a success in itself.....get some rest, looking forward to your write up.

I fell like this on a route called the Good Book. Laybacking, eventually
one of my tired hands just slipped out and I did a backdive. My brain
recorded every milisecond of the view, I can still remember it, falling
and seeing my last pro, coming flying out sideways with my feet in the
foreground. wooee. Mine was also about a 30 footer and then I decided -
nice high point but, it's time for a break! I made my partner lower me and
finish the pitch, even though our deal was that I was supposed to lead the
hard ones. I was not in any kind of situation like you're in, but I know
what that kind of fall feels like.
Thanks for providing the reality show. Hopefully you will get some kind of webcam-headcam sponsor for the next route.

Very, very glad you're back down in one piece :-) The photo that Tom took of you at the base of the face climbing section looks daunting indeed.
And hooray for the Silent Partner (and backup knots)! Because of its ability to stop a fall with the climber pointed in ANY direction, it's worth its weight in gold.

No question about it that you made the right decision. It doesn't diminish your ascent in any way. Actually it raises it to another level. What a proud accomplishment. Take it easy and rest up. You have earned it!
