"When people get closer together, they get more and more savage, impatient with each other. The global village is a place of very arduous interfaces and very abrasive situations."

Marshall Mcluhan

I wonder to what degree political outrage based on such remarkable generalities is just a function of our media?

The F-ing Repubs have changed the rules, so now the Dems need 60 votes to stop a Filibuster, so all of Obama Policies were blocked by the Party of NO, and hence, all Bush Policies will continue

What rule change are you referring to?
Sixty votes it what you need to override a filibuster, but that's not a new rule. I recall the Repubs discussed a "nuclear option" to essentially get rid of filibusters, but I don't think anything happened with that, and that seems to be the opposite of what you're referring to.

Ed Hartouni:

we want an explanation where there is very likely none, except a sick individual with the capability of inflicting fatal injury to others. the issued raised by these considerations are more disturbing to me than this superficial political posturing taking place here

shame on you all

Making a particularly valuable contribution, in which he notes his all-knowing understanding of the motives and emotions of everyone posting.

While you don't have a f'ing clue what happened, and don't apparently care, doesn't mean that others don't, like the poster who personally knew the congresswoman.

I, personally, can't actually remember the last time that we have had members of the government assassinated (the judge), and the country attacked in quite this way....Ford's assassination attempt?

I'm sure you'd prefer that we all go and sit in a corner and be quiet, but we all react in different ways. You might benefit from reading about the stages of grief. It is very emotional, and it reflects our state as humans.

The man was not 'mentally sick'. He was a deluded and hateful person. And he was young. Possibly anti-Semitic. Give a person like that a gun and bad things are going to happen.

He had every right to own a gun. I have a feeling his 'handler' is the real POS here. Kinda like the terror-leaders talking little kids into blowing themselves for the grace of Allah.

Pretty sad. Especially the little girl who died.

There is more behind this guy. He was just the trigger-man.

Reagan was actually shot.

Bill Clinton's Whitehouse was shot up by some fool with a SKS.

Some other fool flew his airplane into Clinton's Whitehouse.

I may have missed a few.

Wes, why would he target her, of all people? She, realistically, wasn't that powerful. Was the judge the true target?

Maybe she just voted on a law the wrong way, in the asshats's mind...

But to have the gumption to walk up to somebody who is no threat to you and fire rounds into their head, well, that's calculated and pretty f*#king sick.

Ride the lightning, f*#ker!

And Palin quickly pedals in reverse regarding taking down her "targets" web post:

"And I think, you know, just reflectively without even thinking about any consequences, our PAC treasurer said, 'Well it should have been down already. Why is it still up? We are not paying for that. It is not getting any traffic. It is no longer relevant.' So it was taken down."
"It was not trying to scrub anything. The original Facebook post where we had this graphic is still up. And I just want to clarify again, maybe it wasn't done on the record enough by us when this graphic came out, the graphic is, we never, ever, ever intended it to be gun sights. It was simply crosshairs."
Bruce then interjected, describing the marks on the map as a "surveyor symbol," and Mansour agreed. "It is a surveyor symbol."

Yeah, that's the ticket...

Apparently more than you do, which in this instance wasn't difficult.

That was Ken M's quote. You would have had to actually read his post to know it, though, so I can see how it got by you.

Lois check out the desert botanical gardens just your side of Suerior, south side of The Superstition freeway. Also the one in Papago park, if you haven't been there yet. Both breed and sell cacti.

Shack, was Jody Foster to blame for that one, or was behind the Lennon shooting?

Are you really goint to imply that this guy was a Palin acollite? That he targeted her because Sarah said so?

You're not that stupid, so I'll assume you're just being disengenuous.

Bluey, how do you know? You don't know yet, but you are calling someone else stupid based on Palin's chart that seems to put bulleye marks on our political represenatives, one of them being the rep who was just shot. Its not a far stretch, but it is a reflection on you and your obvious bias that you discount such info and react without any knowledge of what led to these events

Yep Jaybro,

Hinckley + Jody Foster in Taxi Driver = shoot Reagan

This shooting will likely make as much sense.
