The average number of days that snowboarders — usually a more hard-core bunch than skiers — hit the slopes also has seen a “sharp drop” from 7.6 days a year at its height 15 years ago, to 6.1 today, Mr. Fristoe wrote. Meanwhile the average number of days that skiers went to the mountains has remained consistent at about 5.5 days for several years.
Good!!! Maybe snowboarding can be cool again! 8 days a year? How can you even call yourself a snowboarder!!!

I've spent enough time on both to say that skiing puts you in a more athletic and aggressive position. Modern gear has eliminated any advantage snowboarding ever had.

WHY do they have to sit down in a crowd RIGHT at the beginning of the life line so you can't ski into the cattle lines?
Who would pay to stand in line anyway? There ain't no cattle in the backcountry and the snow is untracked every day!

A snowboard is a toy.
A split board and skis are mountain tools.

Short fingered, knuckle dragging, ice scraping, saggy pants, nuisances.
Ted Cruz will light them up when he is elected president of this great land. Have you ever see half-pipes glow in the dark? We're going to find out.

They saved the ski industry as well as woke up the ski engineers... The big picture is Snowboarding kept 40-50% of your mountains open and recharged the retail industry. Amazing that the number one watched sport in the olympics is the half pipe... Go figure
Aloha and be well

My main issue with snowboarders is when I have to standby and watch, or heaven forbid help, as one of my knuckle-dragging friends attempts to get into a steep couloir heelside. That situation always makes me uncomfortable.

Forget the presidential race. Here is the real controversy.
According to Faux News President Trump is an accomplished skier and will soon issue an executive order banning snowboarders.
I saw a graph the other day that showed a big surge in young kids taking up snowboarding during the Obama Administration.
Make America ski again!

Back to this again. I was ready to to live and let live, bygones by bygones.
Then last night I was swinging turns down a moderate slope and some punk Eurp torpedoed me like an interceptor missle. He was kind enough and appologetic aferwards. Seemed shocked that I was not seriously injured.
Common sense dictates you ski/ride in control and don't clobber others.
Incident reforces my disdain. That plus the fukking sitzmarks all over the good slopes and the apparent inability to just move forward in the lift lines.
Skiing was so much better before snowboarders.

Yup. Almost everyone I know, including several snowboarders, has been hit by other snowboarders either out of control or not checking their backside. I've been hit twice, and the 2nd time the boarder's buddy threatened to beat me up when I wanted some ID from him as he was leaving the scene (and I thought my shoulder might be dislocated). I do know of out of control skiers hitting people, but its less common.
The best solution is to avoid the resort and ski the bc.
