UFO Contact - Former Canadian Defence Minister Paul Hellyer was our Minister of Defence from 1963 - 68. He's now 87, and hasn't been active in current affairs in any substantive or consistent way since the 1970s. Overall not entirely credible. A video of him from 2005 saying that he believes in UFOs is pretty thin gruel.

MH,
Do you not know that the Canadian gov has an official site that allows people to look at your governments archives of UFO Canadian sightings and associated phenomenon?
I would google the site but I'm tired. It has been a long day. More work to do at home. It exists.
Here are some:

Boy, you Canooks must be into some strange kinda wacky weed to believe all this stuff. Sarcasm. It's really ok. You just want to know the truth.

Nothing in the Carter, Reagan, or Clinton youtube videos you posted even vaguely suggests any of the three believe/d in UFO's.

Although Reagan seemed the sort of person capable of believing in UFOs...

If you post all the interviews with Carter regarding his sighting he does admit to seeing a UFO, in some he admits he isn't sure what it is, in some he says it might be, and in others he says no, he doesn't believe stuff like that is possible. But in all he is consistant with seeing a UFO. He has.
Reagan eludes to the idea that Aliens are among us already.
Clinton talks about and eludes to the idea that we have a government within a government. And yes he did try to find out about Rosewell and Area 51. "They" shut him down. "They" never agreed or abidded by his need to know, because as the President of the United States, he wasn't on a need to know basis. We do indeed have a government within a government. One is permanent throughout all administrations, and one is not. One is voted in every 4 years. The other is never voted in, and is always permanently there, whether we want it or not.

No, Carter says he saw something he can't explain, he does not believe it was a craft piloted by aliens.
No, Reagan was using a hypothetical as an example of the kind of event that could / would unite humanity. He 'eludes' nothing whatsoever.
No, Clinton 'eluded' to the fact there might be a crank career employee sitting on material he hasn't seen. It's entirely unlikely and even if such a crank did have material, it would be the same lame junk everyone else with this proposition has.

To answer Mighty Hiker's earlier questions (I won't quote them, you'll
have to guess), I have in fact met Klimmer: not at the WoodsonFest but at
the Woodson Shindig (2007).
He is personable, intelligent and lively, and he can climb. I will offer
one caveat.
He spent what might be considered an inordinate amount of time in quasi
secret discussions with "Phantom X", the main topic being a highly
esoteric and restricted document with a title like The Revenge of the
Itus. The author is supposedly one "Dennis Adams" (I'm So Sure).
It is telling, perhaps, that Phantom X has never subsequently produced
this document despite repeated requests.
As for Weld_it, I have yet to meet that rising star of trad radness. I
understand that he has unlimited Man Potential in addition to his generous
concern for the safety of the climbing community.

I've met Weld-It, or at least someone claiming to be Weld-It. He/she was not a space alien.

what is with all of the posts that are not climbing related? Shouldn't there be another section for information that isn't related to climbing? I was hoping to find some information on this great form about fabricating my own climbing holds. But it seems in between a few not so great trip reports there is nothing but political discussion. What is wrong with you people? Go somewhere else?

Jongy you couldn't be more right. Political/religious threads get far more posts than climbing ones. Hell, the odd sex thread even gets buried by the other crap. Must have something to do with all the people from LA.

Son, I don't do plastic but even a discussion about (ugh!) indoor "climbing" is better that the pseudo science/religious conspiracy crap we've been getting.

Yeah, it's a thread dedicated to the exploration of ideas - oh-how-I-wish ideas that are then embellished with elobarately fabriacted 'facts', photos, ridiculous analyses, quotes out of context (hell, contexts out of context), and all sorts of other crock. It would be 'innocent' enough except in the age of the Internet this endless manufacturing of conspiracies does have a corrosive effect on society over time. Bad enough we can't seem to graduate more than half our highschool students and at the same time have so many people truck in this drivel. That someone attempts to do both does raise a concern in some folks; but that's cool so long as he keeps this stuff to himself at work.
