I believe in gentlemanly conduct, but I also believe in equal treatment.
Sometimes the two values conflict.
If somebody continuously posts late night drunken reveries then sarcastic, nay even caustic, responses are well in order.
Hell, this is** the Taco!

zip the numbers are supposed to imply that because you are 'picking on' TR and because she has a vagina then you are not a man. I'm sure I fall into the equation as well because I told her I thought she misread the situation and overreacted.
I have posted a relatively dumb question and got flamed for it as well. I kinda knew the answer to the question before I asked but thought the old tribe elders might have a better way. I got some good feedback that helped out a lot. I also got called things like stupid and inexperienced. Whatever. I got some good ideas on how to do what I needed to do. Hell, it was even CLIMBING RELATED! Go figure.
In this case all I can say is that the line between equality and 'gentlemanly conduct' is incredibly hazy at best.
LOCKER style EDIT: EtOH.... Jeez you elitist organic chemistry abreviation using MOFO!!! WTF?! Can you PM me regarding the state or existence of Positive Resoles? I needs some shew werk. Thx.

explanation time.
i just got back from a road trip, and left my glasses in Santa Barbara.
I have some back ups, but the prescription is way old, and off, and stuff is pretty blurry. have the day off, and going to go get some new ones.
when i first read DMT's post, thought it said pick up, not pick on.
not trying to pick on her, more like a tribute. i thought it was destined to be a classic, and wanted to contribute. didn't know why it went away. appeared to have some good dialogue.
if she finds it offensive, or it hurts her feelings, i'll nuke it.
the numbers i was referring to, is the !!!111666555, that i always see people posting.

What kind of pig are you? Back-up glasses? Is your commitment to the glasses you've been with for years really that shallow? How do you think the back-up glasses feel when they find out all you're interested in is reading a few pages then dumping them back in the drawer? How will your regular glasses feel if they find out you've been seeing with other glasses as soon as you're away from them.
Are you a total jerk? Don't you have any respect for glasses?

No, I think it's a good thread.
And I hope it helps make the point that while you have the right and ability to delete any thread you start, if you do it all the time then people will soon lose interest in contributing to anything you start. That if all you want to do is post your random thoughts, without regard for what others might do in the way of follow-up, then why not take it to Twitter.
