Summit was cool.

I remember the pitch inside the Zebra which involved decomposing granite?

Cool shots! Questions:

1. What did you do for water? When were you up there?

2. How many times did you make the approach? How long did it take and how dire was it?

3. How wide and how high is the 10d offwidth, and what cams and how many did you use?

Cheers,
Pete

Alpenweg - shut up and climb! After you're up 250m, it's all the same...

Pete IRT you're questions.

Was up there end of July/Aug, get water from the spring at the reg route, have to shuttle it over. There are a few wide sections, we had two 5's and a 6 camalot, worked fine for everything. Ran four loads to the base, takes around 4 hours with loads, not too bad if all the fixed ropes are in place, distinctly alpine flavor to it all.

Precisely the reason I have yet to climb anything on Half Dome!

Do they still have the mules? Could you hire mules and get your stuff to the shoulder?

Tom and I always thought it would be fun to climb Tis-Sa-Ack, and then while we were up there, take a second run up .... um ... {brain fart} ... the one Chris Mac told me was the "all time nailing classic". Single word, can't remember. Must be the Old Vine Zin. You-all have probably gone to bed already, you're just too far east. The sun just went down out here.

It's hell on the Big Island. I was sitting out in the sun answering emails. I'm more tanned on my front than my back. I shall have to face away from the sun tomorrow, except we're going coffee tasting, black sand beaching, lava tube caving, and red lava looking. Then deep sea fishing for billfish on Tuesday, then night diving with the manta rays.

Oh the humanity....

I just wanted to give a proper photo credit to Ivana Crone for taking the spectacular photo of us on the visor as well as the summit photo. Also thanks to Stephanie, and the summit porters Lori and Ivo. All y'all rule!

Nice. I especially like the shot with the tied-off Leeper bolt sticking WAY out. Gotta love that vintage fixed gear.
