What great shots Jim!!
Hornbein's daughter was my doc in Alaska.
One time I told her, "Because of a book in my high school library, it's your dad's fault that I've spent a lifetime thrashing around in the mountains!"
She replied, "Uh, I don't think he wants to take responsibility for that...."
It was a funny exchange.

Jim,
I'll get some people to look at your site!
I didn't find it too busy, it was awesome.
Those are amazing photos, all of them, and I know that your art is much bigger than this, but you have some GREAT naked women on there!!!!
There, how's that?

As far as I am concerned, these are the best portraits of climbers ever taken.

Check the breadth of subjects on the man's site...
Astounding array of people.
Best portraiture I've seen anywhere.

Thanks for the very kind words, everyone, much appreciated.
This really did start as a Sierra series, but as soon as the likes of Hornbein and Washburn agreed to do it... well, "regional" went out the window.

I was joking about the "old" comment. Wonderful photos. But I have to agree with comment above. Web site is too busy. I can't even find my way past the intro / moving graphics thingy and to the photos.

Besides doing the first ascent of the Exum Ridge on the Grand Teton, he played a pretty mean guitar...

Here's another one of my photographs of Yvon. All of the ones of him were shot in his original blacksmith shed in Ventura, now completely surrounded by the Patagonia empire...

In fact, I will add, we are being visited by a major American photographer and artist. We are so fortunate, thanks ever so much for threading up with us Jim!! You make Avedon seem now empty.

Jim,
I loved the Glenn Exum shot. I worked for him in the early 70's and he was a wonderful man.
