Thanks, FT.
Tradchick, you must go! Being a trad climber in JT is like being a dog at a whistling convention.

Mooser--looked like a bit of a sunburned nose at first there,
but you could see the tan coming along. Neat TR!
Thanks for sharing!

I'm pretty sure that the last time I was on a climbing trip of 8 days or more was early in the Reagan presidency. Why? Kids of course. Lately I've been weighing the pros and cons, and well, anybody know what I can get on the black market for a "decent" kid these days?
On another note, as I recall, Phantom X was nothin' to write home about with respect to math skills.

According to my calculations, Eeeyonkee is a dumb guy. Edit: This is common with muscleman model types such as he is.

Dwain, I really enjoyed meeting you, too! I'm bummed that I didn't think to meet up for some climbing...that would've been great. Next time!
Eeyonkee and Phantom X, you'd better take this outside! I know how those high school issues can linger...
SteveW, yeah, I began realizing that my pasty Seattle complexion was no match for JT, so I used my little brother's 70 SPF spray almost every day. I didn't even know they MADE sunscreen that amped up. But it helped. I'm now bronze, beautiful, and am fighting off women at every turn. OK, well, my wife anyway. But she's a cutie!

Mooser: We have great multipitch trad climbing on granite here in N. Conway but the weather sucks most of the time. It's either raining, going to rain, or still drying out.
I'm trying to convince Tomcat that we need to move out west.

Sounds a bit like you're describing Seattle! While I haven't done any climbing in the "Far East," I can tell you that the West is so full of year-round options that it's dizzying. Good luck with your powers of persuasion!

Mooser, I would very much like to take this outside, however Eeeyonkee and I both are deathly afraid of corn snakes. I didn't include them in the snake total cause I don't like to count with my toes (there's two legitimate jokes here somewhere).I'm sorry about Eeeyonkee stinking up your action packed TR the way he did on his own/Brassnuts TR. Some people seem to look for trouble and Eeeyonkee is one of them. I bet your brother Keith wants to beat him up bad, and I can't blame him. Would you know if those powdered muscleman drinks really work?

I would need surgically enhanced fingertips to survive 8 days at JT.

As it is, I have a blood blister on three of my finger pads. I told my brother: "No bouldering on this trip." I knew what'd happen if we did!

One trick that might work is, eventually one or more of the kids consents to go on a climbing trip, so then it's a family trip, yeah, not a mere climbing trip. JTree has about the right scale and lack of objective dangers for this, but 8 days there might wear out the patience of most kids, it's good to plan for some variety.

Tom and Keith,
Thanks for the kind words, MIke and I were very happy to be able to help all those years ago. It was great to see you guys again after 34 years! Another example of the ST magic!
Nice trip: you guys got a lot of fine climbing in.
The party was a hoot. Looking forward to the next gathering of the ST/JT tribe.

Thanks, Rick. It was such a satisfying thing to be able to thank you guys after all those years. Keith and I had almost scheduled a week-long trip to the Sierra Eastside (as has been our custom), but just decided kind of last minute to switch it to JT. We are SO GLAD we did. What a great week, with a great shindig to top it off. Can't wait for the next one! Cheers,
Tom (and Keith)
