On the subject of bickering....

It was not Mr. "afdsd" who set the troll that got me a' snapping, it was CH......

CH- -you wrote--
"you say they jugged the last 300ft on fixed ropes!!! is that true hans?"

Again, I just wanted to take the opportunity to say

BLOW ME

don't detract from their accomplishment with stupid slander, dickwad

Old dude,

Have you read the post above? It was afdsd who claims they jugged fixed lines at the top. CH simply asked if this was true. What the hell is wrong with that?

You've become senile in your old age.

this fixed line stuff is nonsense and should just be ignored.

What a tremendous athletic achievement. Truly inspirational.

By the way anyone have any details on the rescue in the meadow?

I don't know what is more pathetically funny, that "Old Guy" cannot read, or at least understand simple sentences, or that he actually uses words like "dickwad." Pretty funny either way. I know there are illiterates in their 40's, 50's and beyond, and here we have proof. Old Guy, if by old you mean you are only VERY recently out of your teens, then I apologize, because your posts might then speak for themselves.

I wonder if you all know that Hans and Yuji missed the record by two minutes just a couple days previously with their 3:26 ascent, so decided to go back and finish the job.

Great work, lads!

You are, in Dr. Piton parlance, emphatically The Sh#t, and are hereby awarded the Wee-Wee the Big Wall Crab Award of Merit for outstanding bitchin'ness.

Gads, you guys climbed it in the MORNING?!

Why, I can't even climb out of my portaledge until I've drunk my second pot of coffee.

Sheesh.

[Stop by my ledge for a cup next time you're in the neighbourhood, eh?]

Cheers and congrats,

Pete [and Wee-Wee]

I am amazed by the record but afraid Dean will push himself beyond the human in the next few weeks. It would great to see this record stand for another ten years or so.

Time will tell.

CONGRATULATIONS TO HANS AND YUJI FOR THIS UNHUMAN RECORD.

You all be carefull...
So many sad things happening in the world right now...
It would kill us all, if one of you amazing and inspiring humans died playing this game.

It's amazing what a different vision if things makes possible. Under 3 hours boggles my mind. Still, someday, someone will free solo the whole nose. Before that, a total simul ascent will get down close to 2 hours.

Unless I'm just wrong!

Top out by 10:03! You guys thought you would get in a little climb before work? A truely amazing feat that pushes the human body and spirit to new heights. Great Job, and thanks for sharing the experience with us!

Karl, someone will free solo the Nose? 5.13b you really think?

I know the definition of impossible gets changed all the time, but that's IMPOSSIBLE.

Wait a minute didn't Cap'n Kirk already do that?

No one has repeated the free ascent (leading) yet have they? Lynn Hill is AMAZING. Still though the Jardine traverse bothers me. But I guess it's either that or the swing.

My guess the Nose is a sandbag at 13b and only if you're Ms. Hill's size. It's 5.14 or worse for average sized folks and that's why no superman has gone and flashed it.

Still, we've only been climbing El Cap for about 50 years. During the next 500 years, if we don't destroy ourselves, some once-in-a-century genetically enchanced supergirl will just solo the damn thing.

Before that, somebody like Dean will free-solo 95% of it and use screamer-daisy chain-cam hook-tricks on the other 5% and do it damn quick.

I would have said Dean would do it like that but maybe his recent (congrats) wedding will dampen his desire to stick his neck out further than necessary. He, and Hans, are pretty amazing with any suicidal showstopping feats.

Peace

On my last post I meant to say those guys are amazing without having to stick their necks out way too far.

Karl, it took me 5 minutes to remember this thing you reminded me about. It is this formula that applies to physics and evolution.
Can't remember it exactly, but it is a diminishing return formula, that stops animals, planets and such from evolving or getting to big. I yhink it is related to gravity mostly.
Some super smart dude has been able to apply it to a bunch of other everyday life stuff.
They applied it to Olympic athletic achievements over the last 100 or so years, and the logic held there also. They found that although there continues to be gains in achievement in all Olympic sports, the relative increase in achievement is very small when compared to the initial first 10 years of competition.(as an example)
Seems like these guys are proving it wrong.
