Photoshopped? No way. You just have to know the right places to shoot from. Like this
And of course you have to have the right lens. This was taken with a 970,000,000mm lens with an sphericl correction and an anachronistic rating of 3,000 years.

I emailed to a skeptical Y. N .Park Service friend and she had this to say...
"I showed this to some folks here in the park. The consensus is that it is REAL. You can see Half Dome from that location (one of the guys here has actually seen it). The distortion is probably due to the telephoto lens.
I stand corrected. Very cool shot."

Tami, I think it's legit. :)
I may try to dupe it sometime... only about 3 hours away to the tripod location.
I figured 600mm or more... but it was only a 400mm... with a 1.6 conversion camera (cropped). I'd like to try with a Canon 600mm lens on my buddies Canon 5D full frame in RAW and enhance it in Photoshop from there. Might even be able to come up with something even more dramatic.
Deal is... that shot is through a telephoto lens... the naked eye does not see Half Dome that way from the tripod spot... HD is very tiny to the naked eye there... you would not notice it unless you knew where to look and looked for something real small.

What an awesome photo! I remember a teacher, Phil Arnot, from high school had a photo of Half Dome from Mt. Hamilton sitting on his wall. It always amazed me that it could have ever been that clear until one winter day I took off on a flight from San Hoser and there she lay.
