Because hallucinations make for a better story.
Because it's more dangerous to go down, than up.
Because sometimes, failure is just not an option. (Also a top reason for not FALLING!)

true, you mostly end up re-fooked.
there are lines at Verdon that are even worse.
i generally prefer not to rap, rap, rap, way down to the start of a climb. though quite a motivator to "NOT bail".

cintune: is she from Eiger sanction?
Peter Haan: This is one of the best reasons! I hate that one-pitch-from-the-top-after-a-hideous-marathon bail.

With the right partner, it could be kinda good. YMMV.
(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Inexperience.
Desire to get out.
and
Left the bailing bucket at the dock.
We really needed it. Eventually the boat filled so deep it just rolled over.
So there we were in rough water, in the St. Lawrence River, hanging on to the side, wondering whether somebody would rescue us, whether the current would take us close enough to swim for it.
We managed to right the boat once and get in. Couldn't keep it up though.

hey there all, say.... sure enjoyed seeing all your reasons, and i can picture each and every one...
say, you know, tenacity is a good sticker...
these non-bail reasons can make us succeed in many other hard areas of life, too.... though most are surely not as dangerous...
thanks for the shares on supertopo... :)
