Here's a piton with a story to tell.
The piton was used by Riccardo Cassin when Parete Nord Est del Pizzo Badile was climbed in 1937
On the team were Riccardo Cassin, Gino Esposito, Vittorio Ratti, Mario Molteni and Guiseppe Valsecchi.
Raiccardo Cassin was known as an excellent leader and a team player.

And then one more, a piton used by Riccardo Cassin when he and Vittorio Ratti climbed Parete Nord Cima Ovest di Lavaredo in 1935.

No discussion is complete without Jim Herrington's moving, enduring image of Cassin a week before he died at one hundreds. Here he is gazing out his window at the first peaks he began climbing many decades ago, now a crumpled aged paragon. Herrington has posted this image on his website, so I feel free to hoist it up here and further Jim's tremendous work.

Mt. Huntington? I think you are confusing Cassin with Lionel Terray. Cassin did, of course, make the FA of the Cassin Ridge on Denali.
