Girls rule in the outdoors and at the crags.
Both of my daughters have endured and enjoyed a climbing family lifestyle since infancy: day trips to local crags and road trips across the western U.S. Claire in Wyoming on an extended road trip.
Our youngest, was a regular at the gym and local crags since 2 months old.
Tuolumne Meadows is her favorite place to spend vacation time.
The important thing is to find a balance between climbing and kids having fun doing other stuff too.
This summer we took a family backpack trip in the Sierras. She carried all her own stuff and hiked 8 mile days without complaint (we were blown away how well she did).
Families and kids at the crags has become more and more a common sight as climbers age, marry and have kids.

great thread. but how did such a motley collection of lowballs produce such good looking kids?
the men of ST obviously have a tradition of marrying well out of their league.

Climbing with your daughters rocks! The most fun climbing I've done has been with my teenage daughter, I can't wait to climb with her younger sister.

This summer we also did Great White Book with the Wide Wednesday crew (she liebacked the chimney and cruised it, I chimneyed it and flailed). We also made an attempt on Hobbit Book with them 7 September but had to retreat after she got a laceration that required eleven stitches:

That, was an adventure, Boku, I thought it fitting that she got a raffle prize @ the facelift.

It sure was! I was super impressed how she kept it together on the retreat. You and the Wide crew were super gracious about it as well.
The swag pack she got at the facelift included the coolest utensil I have ever known: a titanium spork. It's a spork, and it's made of titanium; what's not to drool over? I am still green with envy.

My youngest (now 11) and me at Mission Gorge. And high steppin' back onto Ken's Crack (I allowed her to restart from the boulder, as she had started from the ground) At the end of that day, as we were walking out she asks "Dad, for my next birthday can we camp here for the weekend." (The Gunks is usually a day trip for us)
I was so flustered with joy I had to stop walking and collect myself to answer "Sure, if that's what you want"

Izzy's 2nd birthday was yesterday. I can't wait to take her out in the spring. I will definitely get her the harness and those little tiny shoes! (and a helmet of course)
