Didn't mean to hijack the thread...i could be interested in a seattle area meet up.

Here are a few more photos from the enchantments. The first one is another view of where I am climbing...you down climb a 5.7 to a small ledge at water level and then have a few options for coming back up about a month earlier. the 2nd is another lake that also has potential when it melts out. Both were taken on a one day run about a month or two before a big multi day trip when we did most of the climbing. Not exactly the Mediterranean.

Permits are an issue but keep the crowds down.

Lemme get this straight...all you have to do is downclimb some 5.7 and you come up about a month earlier??!!

Wish I'd have known about that one years ago!

Hi all.
I live in the Snohomish area.
Don't really post too much on the Taco, but love the community.
Cool to know there are so many ST afficianados in the area.

Cheers.

Perhaps a token Canadian or two might appear, depending. Then there are the SuperTopians from central and eastern Warshington.

Hey Erik, careful about burning your bridges, you may need to cross back over them someday!

I did that pub thing a few years back, looking for partners. It was a train wreck. Those Cascade Climbers can get worse than the bad crap here but not nearly as clever.
Ryan, I think I ran into you and some of your buddies once, I was coming off of Vesper and you guys were going up. You guys were then on your way to Tuolumne.?

O.K. Here's what I was thinking. I would host a dinner at the restaurant that I work at. We have a banquet room that can seat up to 35 or so without getting too crowded. I would cover the cost of food and do the cooking. My wife would help serve. People could purchase drinks at the restaurant(we have a full bar), or I could work some kinda deal with wine. It would be better for me to do it on a weekday but that's not necessary. We could start anytime after five and close the place if we are having a lot of fun. I'm a keyed employee, so we could go till the wee hours(up to 2am). I would need some kind of idea as to how many are coming and would appreciate a commitment so I don't waste a lot of food. If anyone from out of town wants to come, I can put a few people up at my home. I have an extra room with a queen size bed and a large couch and lots of floor space. Maybe some other locals could provide some space. What do you all think? I'm open to suggestions.
I didn't make it to the Facelift for various reasons and thought that I really missed out. This would be nothing like that but a good chance to meet some fellow taco fiends. I would also like to say that anyone and everyone is welcome to come ,if we can pull this off.

Does Sequim, WA count? I'm closer to Canada than to Seattle, but I like coffee better than beer so I think it cancels out. ;)

Wayne, I think we met at a cc.com "Rope Up" two years or so ago; your daughter was with you, styling a route in the Icicle. Maybe we'll run into each other again sometime. It's a small world after all.

Sounds like a fine idea.

I would cover the cost of food...

Sounds like a dumb idea. Why not let folks pitch in?

...and do the cooking. My wife would help serve.

Kind of a middling idea. No doubt you could handle the cooking by yourself, but some kitchen help might not hurt, and maybe some amateur waitstaff help.

or I could work some kinda deal with wine

Now were back into good idea territory.

Anyway, however it shakes out, I'm in.

Sheri, I don't have a daughter so it must be another named wayne. Sequim is just a ferry ride away, but that can be a nightmare. Any and all. I'de even like to see some of those icebacks show up.;>

Dave, I can get it done cheap and easy at the restaurant, it just depends on how fancy folks want to get. I can put out plenty of good food for cheap or I can blow your mind for a small fee. This is what I do. As for the wine, If you like the dago stuff, we got you hooked up. We've got a wine from every region in Italy, and maybe even some stuff not on the wine list.

edit--sorry Frosty, but now that you mention it I did have feeling that something was watching me.
