Hey Chief if that's where I think it is Al-Quaeda can't handle it cuz their pussies.
I've explored there some...that sh*t goes on and on...
Too bad we all can't get into Iran easily, that area has so much...
Not too sure if either qualifies for exotic though...the whole middle east is loaded.
Cool thread,
Cheers,
DD

Looks like glacial limestone formations that were exposed through melting?

Marty,
still in the same, San Jose...
you won't believe it, but my buddy Chriz ran into and has flown paragliders with Stu on the east side.
Stu has apparently done first launches all over the place. wish I had been able to meet and climb with him.
How you doing in the cold?

The top two photos I recently posted are sand tufas near the south shore of Mono Lake. They were formed under water by springs containing calcium carbonate percolating up through the sandy lake bed and cementing sand grains together. The loose sand gets eroded away leaving the sand tufas. These are different than the famous tufa towers of Mono Lake. There are several groups of these sand tufas every mile or so to the east of South Tufa about 50 to 200 yards from the shore. To visit them it is easiest to start at Navy Beach and go east from there, but be careful they are fragile.
