If Yo all posted your best one or two pics from summer here we'd have some more serious viewing.

Hey Yos guns and DrC. How was Captain Obvious. Any beta? I'd love to get on it sometime before the snow comes....or shortly after on skis.

micronut--

Captain Obvious is a line worth doing. Great featured face climbing (you can probably see from the photo of my partner) with a crux that's a bit committing. When you top out, it's amazing to see all that granite about. I only followed though; would like to repeat on the other end.

The rap can be hard to find, bolts that are right under your feet (off to the left) and that are still easy to miss.

here's a good pic of the entire route. Just goes straight up to the top. Pro is small to medium and slung chicken heads. The only runout section is some grainy slab on the last pitch. Kinda gets in my head, but quite easy. Don't miss the gear anchor on top of p3, there really isn't much afterwards and you DONT have enough rope to link. The rock quality is very good and most importantly, there's no one around.

Finding the rap route is a bitch. DO NOT rap all the way down from the summit you won't find anything. Instead rap 10 ft to the little notch and walk to the main formation for a few hundred yards. Then look towards the big gully on climbers left and ask yourself: If I were to put in rap bolts, where would I put them? Good luck.

You need 4x4 to drive up to the trail, otherwise its between 1 and 3 extra miles of hiking.

Summer seemed to go so fast ... and I still haven't uploaded photos from most of my trips?? Here's a long series of highlights:

Tim latches the jug above the squeeze on the NE Buttress of Higher Cathedral Rock. Did I mention that summer starts in May here?

Bob on a first ascent, secret crag

Joel snags a lap on Elegant Inclinations, Chiquito Dome, after we rebolted it

Bob on the crazy project, Middle Cathedral. I didn't know one guy could carry so many ropes!

Further on the crazy project (North Face Traverse 5.10a). Hey, that looks kinda exposed? In the end, the project was successful - we fixed 6 ropes down Mother Earth so Roger could rebolt it.

Linnea floats South Crack, Tuolumne

West Crack

It doesn't really feel like summer here without a few Meadows classics....

Lost Arrow Tip - my college climbing partner, John, jets out for a week to bag a few more classics

Exodus, Middle Cathedral North Face Apron. Thank goodness for Roger's fixed line and the miniTraxion!

Chouinard-Herbert
Did I mention we were slow? (But the night was short and fairly warm)

We heard the routes were too runout here, so we made one of our own. Bob on the FA of Fall Guy.

Debbie on p2 of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, High Eagle Dome

Me starting p3

Debbie on the warmup, Shangri La.
We had quite a few pals with us that day:

Jared

Mike

Dan

Roger heading for Coonyard, Glacier Point Apron

Tom "The Mad Bolter" on El Cap

Sharon on the p3 crux of Fall Guy

Slipstream on the Cookie Sheet

Aqua Knobby, Pywiack Dome

Tideline, Olmstead Point

Summer weather continues; now if my body can just hold up for a few more weeks....

beautiful pics, everyone! evidence of much fun! I'm mourning the closing moments of this fabulous summer...don't have too many pretty pics, but here are a few electronic memories of summer smiles.

A few more from the Summer 2008 grand finale.

We are going to climb that? Ropegun Brandon said it was hard.

I guess so... not bad so far

Ropegun Brandon was right. Good thing the bolts are so close together

Jess decides to refocus his photographic efforts on the more photogenic and less whiny leader behind us.

Dude... did we really just climb that corner?

I guess the top is somewhere over there.

We made it.

Lets celebrate.

I am sore, what happened yesterday?
